southern hills is nothing like Nola. there's nothing out there and you're in BFE. the ghetto is a few blocks away.

If you are moving to Shreveport, Southern Hills is not a good place to live.

I'd agree that your money goes farther, but it's not a posh neighborhood or anything. Blue collar folks. But if you don't care about being in the "it" neighborhood*, then I don't see why you can't find a decent place in Southern Hills.

*I live in the "it" neighborhood...it's in the middle of everything. It's great.

Broadmoor,South Highlands,Shreve Island, Pierremont, Spring Lake, Ellerbe Road Estates. If want to be able to easily resell and not lose money, that is where you need to be.

This. If you have to live in Shreveport, stick to the SE side of town. I'm on the other side of the river, but we rarely go pass Youree drive when in Shreveport.

To me, Southern Hills, is the area between Bert Kouns, Kingston Road, Mansfield Road and Crab Apple. It's not a terrible area but wouldn't be my first choice. Have you looked at the Shreve Island area?

I rented a house in southern hills for about a year while I was in college. It aint terrible. Some areas are worse than others, obviously. I wouldn't buy a house there. I live in North Bossier now FWIW.

Do not live there. If you have to be here for work at least make the most of it and live within easy distance of good restaurants and schools. That part of town is no man's land. I'd rather live in a shack in Broadmoor than a mansion in Southern Hills.

No. Cookie-cutter houses for $140/square foot and no trees.

that's right. Everyone loves shitty traffic, cookie cutter houses, chain restaurants and complete lack of southern charm in their neighborhoods.

I'm in South Highlands, rent a really nice place for a good price from an elderly couple that have more money than they know what to do with.

Besides living on Cypress Black Bayou, I don't think I'd want to live anywhere else in the area.

Some do. I lived in the Cypress area for many yes and would choose there over S'port any day of the week.

Southern hills has been plagued by bank repos for the last few years. You can get a lot of house, but you're probably not going to get any appreciation there. If you're planning on moving away in the next 4-5 years, you'd be much better off in broadmoor, in my opinion. You can find some nice houses there for $100-$105/sqft.

I live in southern hills now and I would not tell anyone to buy here. It used to be a good neighbor hood but not so much anymore. I hope to be moving in a year or two.
