If you by different you mean significantly better treatment of the slaves then that would be correct

No, I do not. Please explain why you think so.

As horrendous as Jim Crow was, the USA did pass the 13, 14, and 15th Amendments. What exactly is your point? Sure, there was institutionalized racism in the US and many Northerners desired and benefited from it. And?

Nope. They tried to leave the country and just wanted to be left alone. You really need to brush up on your history.

You saying so, doesn't make it so. Nice try, though.

If you don't know the answer already then it's not worth my time to even start. You should really go do some reading and gain some knowledge on the subject so you are not as misinformed/ignorant.

I wish I had more than one upvote. This topic is one of my favorite, if not my absolute favorite, what if scenarios in history

I'm not a liberal or a democrat. I just called your bluff, proved you wrong and made you look like an arse. You demanded a name, well I gave you one. A confederate, arrested for treason and hanged for it..

Weak sauce. Yeah, pointing out how Spoons Butler had someone executed for tearing down a flag, yeah, you really showed me. Does the phrase "kangaroo court" mean anything to you?

This is so stupid. I really can't believe that you believe that or would think that made a difference. At best, you are describing a prison. They got nicer clothes, the cells are better, 3 meals a day, rec time, classes and vocational training. But it's still a f'n prison. It's the dumbest defense I have ever heard and you should be ashamed for spouting such hateful lies..

Im not about to type a history lesson on my phone. Like I said before I am not condoning slavery but the fallacies about it in the antebellum south are rampant.

Yes slavery is bad, no one is arguing that.
I will elaborate more when I have time and a computer in front of me.

Yes, you are, right now. You are trying to quantify it and put it into degrees. There is no version that is right, just or worth defending. But yet, here you are. I'll save you the time and effort, its evil, all aspects of it are. You can't put a positive spin on it and it's beyond strange that you are attempting to do that.

Hahahaha. I was simply trying not to be an arse to you and give you the benefit of the doubt and a chance to explain.

But if you want to be a smug psuedo-intellectual and make this a dick measuring contest about who knows more about the history of slavery you picked the wrong fricking person. Because I guarantee out of the two of us, I'm not the misinformed ignorant one.

You cannot be this stupid. You take people, rip them away from their families and friends, sell them at a whim. They have no rights, no voice, no say, no freedom of movement and can't study or believe what they want. You force them to work when you want and how long you want. You give them rags to wear, scraps to eat (horrible diet trends that exist to this day). Yes, they are beaten and abused when they resist. You breed them, you take their children and repeat the cycle. You make them live in horrible conditions. I can keep going on, but it's just not necessary. It is, was and has always been pure evil. There is no romanticizing it or degrees that make it acceptable in some cases..

their own people in Africa sold them into the slavery but that is the inconvenient fact that is lost on most liberals when making this argument. I am not proponent of slavery but people cherry pick information in order to distort their views and make them seem rational. There was many a white person sold into slavery by the Barbary Pirates (the same ones selling conquered Africans into slavery) but once again that fact is overlooked, and if the conditions were so horrible and the masters so vile, why did the slaves once freed come back and work the same land that they were slaves on for generations.
