But it shows the line splitting and gapping South BR/AP?

So BR looks to have avoided the worst, or should we stay frosty a few more hours?
As soon as the line of storms clears your area you should he good as far as severe storms go. It'll still be pretty windy behind the line/front, though.

The entire state of Alabama is getting shite on right now.

Low level lapse rates are horrible.
I didn't think they'd live up to some of the modeled soundings, but I didn't think they'd be this puny, either. It, and moisture, were the two glaring failure modes for this system, at least for the LA threat.

So is BTR out of the woods?

Low level lapse rates are horrible. The front has really slowed too. There’s not enough propagation to get enough lift to overcome the poor low level lapse rates. Plus there’s too much low level shear with such poor low level buoyancy. The line doesn’t have a chance to deepen and intensify where it is now. Classic winter cape/shear balance issue.
Uh... what's that mean in English?
Do I have to set an alarm on my phone, or can I just go to bed like normal? BR/Central area

we talking about the derecho that knocked the train off the Huey P. in Jefferson Parish?
Never forget. Office is 1/4 mile from where the train was on the ground behind the Cane's.
Craziest storm I've ever witnessed. Will never forget that day.

Hell, if we can keep most of the trees up I will take it. We need the rain.

Wind is getting intense at my location. Probably blowing 20 mph constantly with higher gusts.

Where are y’all getting blown up in BR? The house here loses powers when someone sneezes wrong but we’re fine for now - 70808
I’m in 70815. Off of Goodwood near Sherwood.
And yeah same. If there’s the slight bit of bad weather, power outage is imminent. Considering I work from home and Entergy response is always slow, it’s hard not to pull the trigger on a home generator.

I facetiously say if you live in an extremely low lying area around BR your biggest concern would be minor flooding over any other severe mode based on how slow the line is crawling now. Bunch of flash flood warnings in SW Mississippi.

when the squall line supposed to get its act together again?

quote:Thanks, that's relevant. I don't "flood" flood, didn't even in 2016. But I do get standing water in the yard when there's extended rain, my back yard in particular is graded poorly. Every so often we run a sump pump under the house (older house, elevated). One room is lower, used to be the garage once upon a time. Drylok has solved 99.9% of any wetness inside, even on named storms.

Actually more concerned about laying down in a couple minutes, and losing power in the night. Gotta get up around 5.
