yesterday I looked at the grocery store packer style brisket and the price was $3.49 a pound. pre corona pricing was $2.29 for the last several years. rib eyes were about the same increase. inflation is here. I see a lot of chicken in my future

Beef prices definitely suck right now.

There’s still a shitload cows. It’s just a distribution disruption for now

Beef prices are getting ridiculous. I went to the store earlier. I thought of getting a roast so I took a look while I was there. Sirloin tip roasts were 10 per pound. Needless to say, I didn't get one. I'll certainly be eating more chicken.

Beef prices fuct. Louisiana fresh seafood prices STACKED.
We are eating seafood 3 times a week since March. Not complaining.

Wait what happened to the plethora of threads claiming HEB was the distribution GOAT and would never have any problems these other grocery stores have experienced?

This isn’t a supply chain issue druggie
This is a meat processing issue affecting all retailers

Rouses had whole, untrimmed brisket for $9.99/lb last week. I laughed.

Yes, meat prices were significantly low weeks ago and then when the processors had to shut down, the prices skyrocketed. The processors are running now and the prices are slowly going down. Just wait 3 weeks.

I got a family owned butcher here in town that I like to use when I can. I wanted a whole packer several weeks ago. Picked out a really nice 17 pound one. Didn’t ask price because it’s usually pretty reasonable particularly for the quality of meat they sell. Get up to the register and it was $8.00 pound. That’s the most expensive USDA Premium Choice packer brisket I’ve ever purchased. Tax and all that thing was around $146.
