Didn’t ask price because it’s usually pretty reasonable particularly for the quality of meat they sell. Get up to the register and it was $8.00 pound. Damn! I purchased a 19 lb. USDA Prime brisket packer at Costco for $114 and I thought that was insane.

Not terrible at all, everything considered.

Slaughter levels have normalised the last 2 weeks and wholesale beef prices (packer price to retail/Foodservice) have dropped to pre-covid levels and I expect them to drop a bit more. Hope it doesn’t drop too much though as that’ll buy back some demand.

The price of 1 good increasing isn’t inflation. Inflation is an economy-wide increase in prices, and we’ve seen little to no evidence of that occurring yet.


It seems that the velocity of money has fallen in recent months, so the recent influx of cash into the economy hasn’t accelerated price growth at all. MV=PQ. Even if M rises, a falling V could more than offset the growth in the money supply and lead to lower prices.

That in fact seems to be the case currently, as inflation has fallen this year, now down below 0.5%.

I got a whole freezer full of deer meat! i don't need any 20 dollar a pound meat from the damn store!!!

Let me think about that.... after lease fees, corn, etc my deer meat costs about 45 bucks a pound. hahaha.
