My dad's house in KW is on an island...hopefully it doesn't get much worse. Took my BIL 5 hours to get back to KW from downtown. shite's crazy. I'll take our May snowstorms over that!

Greatwood got hammered, but they also have the flood gates to the Brazos closed. Every drop of rain that falls inside the levee system has to be pumped out.

I'm in KW and all is well. Some rain in the street but not bad, didn't even rise over the curb.

yeah man it was definitely one of those things where you just had to be in the wrong spot. Just drove over the lake/river on WLH and that bitch is getting high. It will be interesting how it looks Saturday/Sunday.

We've got a trough out west that is going to struggle to push through to the east with the ridge being strong enough to put on the brakes for a few days. Through spring, those troughs have been open to push on through the SE. Gives us those severe weather days but don't stick around. Hints of summer pattern on the horizon.

What the balance between the ridge and the through present is a pathway for disturbances riding around the trough to flow over E TX, LA, AR for the next few days and keeps low level flow out of the south. Plenty of warm wet air for them to work with.

The result:

Highest totals around the Houston area not welcomed after the big rains last night.

One of my coworkers was stranded for 3 hours last night at the HEB at 90 and Hwy 6. He ended up walking through knee-deep water to get back to his house a few miles away. Then he had to walk back this morning to get his car. He has a tiny civic, though.

My neighborhood did pretty well, though. We are on the north side of sugar land.

That storm line damn near follows the Mississippi the whole way up.

Just a few quick showers today on my side of Houston. All the ground was completely soaked though this is gonna be an interesting weekend

I'll be travelling from Tyler to Houston next week. I may need to do so by boat. Thankfully up here in the Tyler area we have not had the flooding issues yet. The tornadoes and straight line winds did a lot of damage all over E TX though.

Hey Duke, any updates for the BR-NOLA area? Are we going to get a shitload more rain? Or maybe less?

We're talking like 4-7" over the next few days, isolated higher totals. This sort of set up can over perform some, but we're not talking about anything like, let's say a 2016 repeat.
