The same thing happened in LA with a girl's soccer coach and a 17-year-old girl. He did not go to jail and was only charged because he was a coach. He was well into his 40s when it happened.
Former coach convicted of prohibited conduct with student 17 years or older
I think it's still sick and an adult preying upon a child but the law is 17 so he was his punishment was way lighter than if she had been just a few months younger. If he wasn't her coach then he wouldn't have been charged at all.
