The “Fat Leonard” corruption investigation has expanded to include more than 60 admirals and hundreds of other U.S. Navy officers under scrutiny for their contacts with a defense contractor in Asia who systematically bribed sailors with sex, liquor and other temptations, according to the Navy.
Most of the admirals are suspected of attending extravagant feasts at Asia’s best restaurants paid for by Leonard Glenn Francis, a Singapore-based maritime tycoon who made an illicit fortune supplying Navy vessels in ports from Vladivostok, Russia to Brisbane, Australia. Francis also was renowned for hosting alcohol-soaked, after-dinner parties, which often featured imported prostitutes and sometimes lasted for days, according to federal court records.

Dishonorable discharge costs an Admiral a lifetime retirement pension for 180-220k. Dumb fricks.
ps - that's 200k Per year for life.

Been going on for decades: Tailhook Scandal, Wikipedia
In the basement of the casino, while Tailhook (1) was going on upstairs, was where the upper echelon had their Tailhook (2) going on. Call girls, and business people hobnobbing and lobbying the Admirals and Generals and Politicians.
The crook I worked for in Tulsa that ended up with his childhood best friend spending 3 years in Club Fed and becoming one of the richest in the USA for a time, was photographed and on the front page of the Vegas newspaper with military brass and a Senator. One of the reasons that crook avoided prison for his stuff was the connections he had. He had that newspaper edition framed and hanging on his office wall.

This thing is just never going to end. Any O-5 or above who chopped into 7th Fleet between 1990 and 2010 may as well just lawyer up.

Do you have any feel for what percentage of them deserve the shitstorm?
Also, it's an easy soundbite, but is it actually possible that attitudes and behavior could have trickled down from the top in the 7th Fleet and had some contribution to their recent problems? i.e. do flag frickups accrete other frickups in the chain of command, or is the corruption described here completely irrelevant to whatever process failures led to multiple collisions?
