thats dumb. Only nerds wore the uniform pants. The cool kids would wear the uniform shorts even in below freezing weather

I have one in private. They have no uniforms at all

We only had to wear them on church days.

Ankle socks — boy there was so much bullshite over that. Never ending nonsense about ankle socks and how they couldn’t be no show (ie ankle had to be covered).

Like the uniforms in general. Kids grow quickly, and it’s easier to keep them clothed with just a basic set of shirts/pants.

It does create some drama for sure. I was eavesdropping on a conversation at the hair place yesterday. Women were talking about the 3 inch or 4 inch rule for shorts or skirts—measuring the distance they are above the knees. They were getting all into the weeds about whether it’s measured from center of the kneecap or from the top. And what about if the kid has a growth spurt.

I thought about mentioning that my own system of measurement is from center of the anus, twice around the balls, to just past the tip. But, I kept quiet.

I get that. Hell ,I got picked on too. The thing is, people are assholes no mater what clothes you have on.

I still want to be able to wear what I want.
I spend a lot of money for them to wear some bs that will only be good for this year at this particular school. It sucks but the other option is to send them to the shitty mobile public schools .

I’ll pay the money ..

It’s actually is supposedly better for the poorer kids because all they have to buy is a few uniforms instead of being worried about keeping up with other’s new outfits all the time.

in that aspect, i certainly am for and appreciate uniforms...

same... plus, at least my kids anyway, get 2 years out of a set, normally, unless they hit a growth spurt... does make it cheaper, for sure...

I think some of the enforcement at the periphery is silly though.

agreed... there are assholes in every crowd, and some people get drunk on power

Disciplining kids over uniforms is pretty stupid. I remember it started my senior year and how overzealous the school was about it. Couldn't wait to be done with that idiocy.

It was a knee jerk reaction to Columbine under the guise of helping the poor kids. Everybody still knew who the poor kids were. I wore Tommy Hilfiger shorts and polos everyday.

They used to make us write the school code of conduct for getting caught with a shirt untucked and I used to pay a poor kid $5 a copy to write them for me so I kept a few on hand at all times.

So many thoughts.

Uniforms are quite the distraction in themselves with teachers over policing them. If your belt is the wrong color, or you sweater, it’s an issue.

My kids could never wear the inexpensive uniform pants available at Walmart and Academy. They fell off of them and the only pants that fit them were gap kids. Not a problem unique to my kids but to many.

After Laura, Calcasieu sb suspended the uniform policy and the kids absolutely proved they could handle it. I heard from so many teachers how much nicer it was without having to deal with policing uniforms. A responsible dress code can still be enforced without uniforms. No holes in pants, no sweatpants or pj type pants and short length needed to be respectable. It worked.

And I’m going to add this to—the uniform requirement for public school is basically another tax we bear. Having to buy an entire separate set of clothing for school is a burden. Clothes that can do double duty in a child’s life is a more efficient use of money and space. And gone are the days of Walmart jeans being trash. Teenagers get jeans from Walmart all the time that are cute. There are now much better options than there were.

Cpsb finally relaxed the uniform policy last summer and allow jeans with school tshirts now. It’s a big step in the right direction and everyone is so much happier.

Heck I like wearing uniforms in the plant. Don’t have to figure out what to wear every day. I would think it’s the same for kids.

We moved here from GA and into uniforms. It was so much easier to get ready for school with the shopping and not having to argue over what to wear.

Uniforms are still very much a thing. I get the socialist aspect because I got to wear what I wanted to wear as a kid. But I'd be lying if I said kids in uniforms didn't look nicer and seem to behave better.

I liked having uniforms as a kid, you could just throw it on and head off to school without worrying about it

Uniforms are fine but the teachers that enforce the dress code go full democrat retard batshit crazy. They make the mask police look like the Mayberry PD.

My daughter has been in catholic school since K and I definitely prefer uniforms. She’s a freshman in a new school since her first one stopped after 8th and there is only one option for shoes for girls. KEDS saddlebacks. Easy and done. I’m in Lafayette area so it wouldn’t matter anyhow though.

I never wore them, my kids did. I think it is simple and easy for all.
