I kinda went off the rails with that part, it just seems like a policy they would come up with. Poor kids can't afford nice clothes, so we all have to wear the same thing....

I had to wear uniforms my redshirt senior year in HS. I didn't wear cheap clothes back then. Put me next to a kid wearing Wal-Mart and you could tell the difference.

It seems like it's causing issues this year because people in Central are taking to social media in mass to complain about it this afternoon. It's funny to me though. I won't send my kids to public school in Central, so I's just sitting here with my popcorn.

I went to a Catholic high school.

The biggest problem I saw were the nun’s always making the girls roll their skirts down. Skirts had to be to the knee so the chicks would roll up their waistband to make their skirts shorter.

South Louisiana seems to be the only place in which public school kids wear uniforms.

You need to get out more.

I've noticed that the girls will start dressing like prostitutes starting in about the 5th grade if there aren't some rules. I wish our public schools required them. Buying 5 pairs of Dickies' khakis and 5 knit collared shirts would be cheap.

Discipline begins with wearing the proper uniform. I went to Catholic school so you’ll never hear me complain about uniforms.

Positives:
Discipline
Responsibility
No style-shaming
No style distractions
Easily recognize your students

I think they stamp out individualality.

You can still have a dress code (and enforce it) but also let the stoner kids wear their Smashing Pumpkins tshirts and the jocks wear their Perlis polos.

It seems to work fine for 90% of the country. I'd never look to Louisiana for ideas about schools.

I went to a private school and we wore them. Overall I think it’s good for less fortunate children but at the time people who could would just wear expensive slacks and shoes but from what I understand it’s very strict now.

It’s actually is supposedly better for the poorer kids because all they have to buy is a few uniforms instead of being worried about keeping up with other’s new outfits all the time. I don’t mind uniforms. I think some of the enforcement at the periphery is silly though.

I could tell who didn’t have money and who did.

I wore a uniform to school every day from kindergarten through my senior year of high school and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

When I got to college I wore shorts, a tshirt, and flip flops to class every day all 4 years.

Looking back I probably should’ve went to a college that required uniforms too lololololol

Learning some conformity in modern society regarding dress is a good thing. Whether it’s a uniform akin to my kids school through th grade or pants and a collared shirt during high school.. people need to learn that you dont get to wear what you want at all times whether as a requirement or simply as a matter of respect..

I went to public school in the 90s. We didn't have uniforms. We couldn't wear shorts. If I recall, most people wore jeans or chinos and either a collared shirt or a tshirt. I don't remember dress code really being an issue.

if you don't have uniforms, you're missing big opportunities for the monogrammers in your town

I don't get how kids get a demerit for having there shirt untucked but a teacher can wear blue-jeans and some generic t-shirt to school.

Most kids around here skirt the rules by wearing a sweatshirt to school over their uniform shirt so they don't have keep a shirt tucked in
