She WRITES her own songs.
Max Martin is co-writer on most of her biggest hits. You know, the guy who wrote pretty much every boy band or Britney Spears hit of the 90s and 2000s. Taylor Swift is just a continuation of that plus social media.

Have you never been around a teenage girl? She caters to that crowd and it’s a pretty big market.

LOL. Her market, while primarily female, extends from 8-9 year olds to 40+.
he was talking about mental age, not physical age. There are PLENTY of 40 yo women who think and act like teenagers.

I mean, she does. It’s a verifiable fact. She has producers and co-writers, of course, but she writes the overwhelming majority of her own music in stark contrast with most other pop singers.
You guys are taken...hook line and sinker by a basic white chick with no arse. Too damn easy. She's the typical pop star, all flash no substance. No matter what you heard in your fan group.

Truth, she is extremely talented. I like a few songs dont like others, dont care for her social commentary, but understand why she is a draw. Doesn't bother me. Now, this board hates her but again, look at the posts on this board and it is evident you have angry white men in bad marriages dominating here.

This thread has been live for nearly 15 minutes and has almost 5 pages. This board is mainly middle aged men.
I'm starting to think this is why she is famous. People are infatuated.

I've never heard a Taylor Swift song and I could not name one.
She does have nice thighs.
The greatest female singer is Linda Ronstadt .

I don't get the appeal either but I can see why others do. Her voice isn't bad and she is a skinny blonde white girl with a decent voice. She would have been pretty average in the 90's but singers now have a lot less voice training and there's an even smaller supply of skinny blonde white girls who have musical abilty.
Her EXTREMELY wealthy father financed her career and she makes music for entitled American Millenial White girls who think they're oppressed so I also see why so many people find her irritating.

that’s fair.
BUT, but as a parent of boys would you tell them not to like a superstar QB or shortstop because of off the field dating patterns? Just playing Devil‘s Advocate

Taylor Swift doesn’t have solo writer credits on anything these days. Which says a lot.
She hasn’t had solo credit since her early days when she was young and writing country songs. Which is actually her best stuff.

It doesn't matter what guys think. There are 30 year old women who say she is the voice of their generation and they probably associate a lot of their growing up and relationship BS with whatever is in those songs. Plus, as a few other people have said, they can now take their daughters to the shows.

Pulling the race card in a Taylor Swift thread. Impressive.

Decent looking, super leftist, and you cannot make sense of what teenage girls like on any given day so there's no point in trying to understand. Her 'i'm the problem' song is decent and that's about it. I hope she makes money and makes girls happy. As long as we don't listen to her for advice on how to run society, I think we'll be ok.
Things that resonate with teens - totally unpredictable. It is what it be.

She’s not ugly and earns $50,000,000 a year. That’s all I got.

She doesn’t seem to have any of the above. It’s not that she is bad, but I don’t get either why she exploded
Adele and Gaga aren’t sex appeal either, but their talent and sound is fantastic. Spears amd Jlo didn’t have that much of a talent but their sex appeal was off the charts
Swift is none of the above
Her songs are so very relatable to most everyone. For example, Cruel Summer lyrics...there's not a woman between 16 and 60 that hasn't felt like the girl in the song or at the very least had a best friend going through the same thing. U Belong with Me...every high school kid everywhere felt this way at one time or another. Many of her more recent songs have some pretty deep lyrics. Have you really listened to her lyrics? And other songs are just a fun bop.
BTW, I'm in my 60s and went to see her with my daughter in law (no pics!). It was the absolute best show I've ever seen and I've seen Broadway and Vegas productions.

Max only did co-writes and production on 3 of her albums well after she was already famous (1989, Red, and Reputation, all released between 2012 and 2017). He was a co-writer on 4 of her #1 hits, though.
Max definitely contributed to her success, but she’s been a prolific songwriter before and after him.

Actually, it doesn’t say as much as you would think. The way modern music is produced, writing credits are given out to a lot more people involved in the process than they were in previous decades. If a producer pulls a beat or an effect out of their bank to use on a song, the creator of that beat gets a songwriter credit, and the producer often does too, even if it was just layered in for atmospherics and does little regarding song structure and lyrics. This is an industry overreaction to the litigation spawned by the endless ripping off of one-another artists, studios, and producers were involved in during the 70’s and 80’s especially.

What’s to get? I don’t think you are her target audience.
Considering the state of things, that’s a plus IMO.
