Unfortunately, folks that do this typically feel that they're saving their children from an even worse fate by not allowing them to grow up without parents and knowing their father murdered their mother.

If his wife was indeed cheating on him, and he felt he had to go to these extremes, the killings should’ve been: wife, Jody, self. Leave the innocent kids out of this.
