You literally told the story my dude.

The story about how my kid asked literally one time to go to disney and then immediately said he'd rather go on a different trip when presented with an alternative? Yea man, really went out of the way on that one. Melodramatic weirdo lol.

Why couldn't the next trip have been Disney?

Because we don't see the value in it vs the available alternatives. You do. That's ok. It takes all types.

Honestly my kids liked it more before age 6. We had Florida resident passes and they were great when they were cheap about a decade ago. Had it down to a science with the fast passes.

Ours were about that age as well. After that, they only wanted to go to Universal.

Plenty of people make that exact suggestion on this forum.

But not in this thread, right?

The only people talking about going to europe over the beach in this thread are you and NIH.

I see some value in both. I think that comment is typically targeted at the people taking their 10 and 12 year old to Disney for the 8th time in 5 years, etc.

Honestly, for us the bigger trips are about training for future trips/exposure to the type of traveling we aspire to as much as the specific destination itself. But to each their own.

You do realize this wasn’t normal? I went 1x to Disney and the Disney of today wasn’t normal either.

You had a pretty good childhood money wise. That’s wasn’t normal either.

The consumerism, spending a frick ton of money on Disney, travel ball, what have you wasn’t normal either.

Point being, anyone bitching about inflation have lived far beyond what normal spending habits used to be.

Hey, that kind of life is great in the moment. I get why people do it. I’ve been on some really nice trips myself. But too many people live for today all the time.

I’m not describing you Kilroy. You seem to have the means and also save. I’m talking about the vast majority out there.

Inflation ebbs and flows. It’s not a static amount. People don’t plan for bad scenarios and they suffer when it happens. Well the world isn’t fair. Someone should have taught them that.

Stop spending everything. It takes time to build wealth. Easier if you start younger. But people just blow it all. Then when they are 60 they look around and cry “Where’s MY American Dream!?”

Well, let’s take a look at your past 40 years of spending shall we? Ohhhh trips to Europe, Disney every 4 years, snow skiing, beach trips 2x a year, eating out 1/2 the time. $400 a month cable bill. Tailgating every LSU game.

It’s not the single straw. It’s the last straw that breaks a camel’s back.

Ok but I don't see what relevance any of this has to this particular thread.

People have spoken about how expensive it is but they still go. Seems relevant to me that maybe they shouldn’t go.

No, but it’s typical of what a first time trip to Europe might look like.

Because they want to go on a peaceful relaxing vacation and not one that overcrowded, overpriced and overly hot in the boiling Florida sun? Oh wait......

If you have kids between 6 and 12 or so I get it.

Someone explain to me the allure of water. I mean I get it if you're thirsty but otherwise just seems heavy and messy.
