Well for one, seeking attention via a thread about what other men are doing is pretty "unmanly"

I know another guy who had to get a bedroom painted and paid a painter to go paint it for him instead of going to Lowes, getting a gallon or two of paint, and going home to do it himself.

My painter charges me $185/bedroom including Sherwin Williams paint. This is a no brainer for me.

and for the sake of your argument, this might be the manliest thing on your list of things and you don't even do it yourself. GOOD CALL!

The wine and cheese thing is a ridiculous notion by OP. I know numerous boomers who are legitimately wealthy and will get the frick down on some wine and cheese. And these are southern men with land and similar hobbies as others (hunting, fishing, etc)

The coffee thing in Italy is pretty weird. I love good coffee, and have had some good coffee. But coffee can only get so good. It's still just coffee.

didn't take mingo long to come in here and tell us we are all poor's for actually taking pride in the things we own.

i can't wait for the day an OT sleuth gets tired of Mingo, does some homework, and reveals Mingo is a 14 year old boy talking all this shite on the internet.

It sounds like his time may be worth more than yours and that you may be lacking perspective on that particular subject. Paying someone to do a job for you does not always equate to not being able to perform the task.

I just have never been the kind of man who insists on paying other men to do what I can do myself. Except changing my oil. Screw that.

I don't do it myself anymore, but I did it the first 8 or so years I had a car. Really not that big of a deal. What's your time worth to you? I could have replaced the facia on my house myself, but why would I invest that time in it when I can spend it doing something I would rather be doing?
