‘57-61 were the years between 3rd-6th grades in my world.
Best stuff was: DC comic books, bike, skates, Mad Magazine, 2 transistor radio, assorted toy guns, chemistry set, football, basketball, plastic toy soldiers and dinosaurs.
ETA:Almost forgot - Etch-a-Sketch, Hula Hoop, pocket knife
Good, simpler times.

Comics!!! Yes, I loved comics. They had them in up-right racks, arranged vertically that you could rotate. Every other week, we'd walk two miles to the closest convenience store to check out the new arrivals. Then we'd take them home and just devour them, with our eyes.
A great escape!

My mother can still do shorthand. I remember as a child her showing me what the different symbols meant.

Mongoose or Red Line BMX bikes, just coming out, then.
Star Wars or Charlie's Angels trading cards.
Army surplus gear for playing WW II out in the back yard.

Click clacks that could blind you, and lawn darts that could kill you!

Our first air conditioner was literally the coolest. Nothing like standing in front of it after playing outside. I would have given up all my toys for that thing.

Honda QA50. I'll remember that day for the rest of my life. We lived in the country which was cool but no neighborhood kids to play with. I had trails throughout the property and rode that thing from daylight to dark every chance I had.
Had a Honda Z50 around 1972. A kid around the corner had the QA50. I never understood why Honda made both, unless the QA was just cheaper. The Z50 was a far superior machine.
