I would like to ask you a simple question. What was the zenith of human society?

I don't think you had to put the word "literally" in your subject.

Frankly I've found its allowed me to find out which of my "friends" are idiots a lot faster than using other methods.

Some truth to that. I'd say social media doesn't affect primary relationships as much as it does secondary relationships.

Stop being purposefully obtuse. I'm not confused at at all. 30 years ago if a radical Islamist or pedophile wanted to meet up and share they're views it would be quite difficult. Today it's a click or two away. Then, people feel safe behind a keyboard so they express those views even more fiercely than they would in person.

Whats funny is you are focusing on the tool not the user. As if the the tool is the problem. You know when i bet you use a completely different line of thinking? Does this sound familiar "Guns dont kill people, people kill people."

It fricking sucks. If I our class wouldn't make announcements through a facebook group, I would have deleted mine long ago.
Makes me depressed when I click on a fox news or cnn article and read the comments.

radio is destroying society - his father

Cinema is destroying society his father before him.

Though Social media makes it so much easier to destroy people and to take advantage of people.

Agreed, social media has led to an increase of narcissism. I don't think social media is 'literally destroying society' yet but guessing this trend will eventually lead to a net negative impact on society. Social media has countless plusses, some known negatives (e-bullying, being mean behind cloak of anonymity, etc.), and also some unknown negatives that we will realize later.

On a somewhat related subject, I was thinking recently how often I've noticed famous athletes are dating or marrying women with (extremely) NSFW-type pics. It seems as though it's the norm for good looking women to have these pics everywhere. Men have always been a bit narcissistic but I'm guessing it's really on the rise in women.

Social media is a tool. Society will destroy itself with whatever tools are available.

It's changing social interaction, both good and bad. Basically gives an outlet for people to express themselves in a manner they wouldn't in person.

People are definitely more narcissistic now. 99% of what people put on social media is to see what other people think about them

Please. Self portraits and other narcissistic behavior go WAY back before social media.

The folks who look for attention on SM now are the same ones who 30 years ago would lose their shite if they made the local newspaper: lol:

Ain't nothing new under the sun, really.

Bulldozers are much more efficient tools to move heavy shite than the way the Romans had to do it. Same goes for the internet. Of course it's not causing people to become shitty. That's already a prerequisite. It simply provides and easy and efficient way to be shitty.

I get what you're saying but stop ignoring the outlet the internet gives you. It's way more powerful than any of the things you listed.
