Are you trying to tell us something?

Well some oldie started a thread about not bathing daily so there’s no hope for soap.

I’ve read that your skin glands do change as you get older and that’s why there is an old people smell. It’s not from lack of bathing.

I think it's the clothes as well.

Yeah, I was just reading about this (skin changes and persimmon soap) a couple days ago.
In short, something in human skin starts changing between roughly the age of 40 and 75 (people age at a different rate so the start of the process is not uniform... and I would guess is based on health, diet, etc.). Whenever it starts, the point is that this change results in an increasing amount of an aldehyde called 2-nonenol being present on the skin, and this aldehyde smells kinda bad... and regular soap doesn't fully remove it.
Persimmon soap has tannins which supposedly chemically bind with the 2-nonenol and allows for easier removal if you let it sit on the skin for 30 seconds or so before rinsing.
I don't think I'm at that stage yet. But if my wife ever gives me that bad feedback, I'm not opposed to giving it a try.

When you’re a woman, hormonal shifts in perimenopause/menopause increase the smell when you sweat. You can also use Head and Shoulders for a similar effect (to reduce the smell/bacteria).

Makes sense, but why do sole old ppl smell and some don’t. My aunt reeks of old ppl smell and has for awhile. My Dad died at 84 and never did.

I used to use Pine Tar soap to repel ticks.

Did it work?

Seemed like it did. They make shampoo too.

Thanks. Ticks where I turkey hunt in the spring have become unbearable.

I think it’s the teeth more than the skin

The problem areas are behind the ears and navel cavity.

My old Italian barber used to say that using pine tar based shampoo helps you keep your hair.

Ticks make shampoo? And here I thought all they did was get as close to a ball sack as possible and hang on......
