Max FEMA will allow is 30,000 I know that's better than nothing, but a long way from rebuilding a 300,000 home. I know, I lost my home in March.

This! We can send a billion dollars a year to Iraq with nothing in return but all we can do is give low interest rate loans to our own people when disasters hit .

I have lived a couple of places in South Louisiana where I was not in a flood zone. I had flood insurance. You are crazy not to have it in South Louisiana. It costs peanuts if you are not in a flood zone.

Family is staring 200k plus damage with no flood insurance. I mean if you're not close to a flood zone and your house hasn't flooded ever, why would you have it?

Bc sometimes $hit happens. Plus flood insurance is really cheap when not in a flood zone.

I thought so as well but a majority of the major flood areas aren't covered by the NOLA stations.

Don't get your hopes up on FEMA money. It'll be in the order of hundreds of dollars... Thousands or tens of thousands.

It's an election year, Obama and Hilldog will visit the flooded areas and announce a program to help the uninsured. Hoping it will buy some votes.

I'm not sure about that, there is no national coverage. We are not going to get the Katrina money.

Parents are in this situation, but they were already planning to move to another state to retire, they are distraught right now but I told them to just leave everything and I'll take care of it and to go retire. They kept making different reasons to postpone the date to move, if this wasn't a clear enough sign, nothing will be.

It was Iran's money. Not taxpayer dollars. Stay on topic.

Now isn't the time for people to say "told ya so" in regards to flood insurance as well. Not when so many are suffering at the moment.

Thank you nurse! I'm glad a few people get it.

There is no coverage where I live. People out here had no idea there was any flooding going on.

Wouldn't it be possible they qualify for some FEMA aid? Since a state of emergency has been declared?

in the spring i had work for about 3 months with fema employees... and this is most likely what people will have to do. it's what people had to do back in march.

Sun coming out here after some morning fog, temp around 80. No brag, the fact is we could use a lot of the rain you're getting. Life ain't fair, climatically speaking.

If you have a house worth 200k+ then you should be able to afford non flood plain insurance.

Would you pay cash for a Lamborghini and then only carry liability because that's all that was required?
