I know but I don't think the thru traffic will take the loop. Not saying I'm right just what I think. People traveling thru BR don't want to take surface streets to bypass it. Sure if it was a brand new interstate type of loop I could see truckers using it.

I cross the bridge everyday. The people who live in central, Zachary, etc already take the old bridge. The people who are traveling to south BR, Gonzales etc have to take the new bridge...if there was a bridge in Addis I think it would help greatly.

ETA- if they built an extension from 415 to LA 1 south of intracoastal and connected to 30 I think people going to NOLA would take it

Truckers will use what is fastest. They will learn

the old bridge isn't exactly a peach

And that route is already a clusterfrick with less traffic...they would have to do some major improvements to get that route used by truckers. What exactly would the route be? Take airline to 110 and get off at the airport?

yep. The state can take the land and pay for it. I'm just glad to still see this on the table. I thought the loop proposal was dead.

Bruce said once the study is approved by federal highway officials, Loop backers, with the little money left, will try to gauge interest for a possible public-private partnership to build sections of the Loop.

Bruce said polls show the broader public favors the concept.

“So there is very strong disconnection with what political leaders and a few anti-Loop opponents say and what the general public believes,” he said.

I would like to see this study personally.

Texas will literally build a toll highway over Louisiana before a loop in Baton Rouge happens.

I worked for an environmental consultant that completed a NEPA study on a route connecting 415 to HWY 1 about 8 years ago.

I can only imagine how long that would take in Louisiana. 5 years?
shite, it took like 10 years just to get the Causeway Blvd interchange built, and it is retarded anyway

Building that loop would be a minimum 10 year project

I've always maintained the shortest distance between two points is a straight line.

An elevated roadway using the footprint of the existing I-10/12 roadways and another Mississippi River bridge just South of the I-10 bridge.

What you would save on land acquisition you spend on the additional construction costs.

Environmentally it's a win-win, less raw land disturbed and less extra fuel used by traffic as it will be miles shorter than a loop.

Make it have zero intermediate public exits/entrances all the way across, only for through traffic. Emergency accesses will be necessary.

Baton Rouge bypass to New Orleans on I-10 would take so much pass through traffic out of BR. That would be so clutch

Loop will never happen so i have a novel idea. How about people move closer to where they work....?

Nah, that would be too easy.

It will happen right after they settle on a route, finish the environmental impact studies, and find funding.

I have come the conclusion that BR loves their traffic. Subconsciously they do not want to solve the problem.

I think the northern loop would get a ton of use. The southern loop, not so much.
