In my highway design class here at LSU we had to propose some solutions to fix the I-10 traffic. Our verdict was that it ain't happening.

Not sure. I do think that the state should spend a few million studying the situation before doing nothing, though.

1. It loops way too far south in Ascension Parish
2. What happened to the Plaquamine Bridge crossing?

when I moved there in '92, this proposal had been on the table for years. It's a pipe dream.

How about trying to add more lanes.
Lets start there, we're only 30 years behind on that simple concept

No way in hell Central lets the loop cut them in half like this map shows. They threw a fit last time this proposed route showed. Looks like it crosses right at Hooper/GS road.

Livingston has already said that they'll block it. Not enough elected officials had time to buy land in the proposed right of way before they released the route.

And this is why eminent domain is a good thing. Too many NIMBYs around here.

There won't really be any new roads except for the bridge. The other roads in the loop are existing and would be widened I guess.

I don't think the northern loop would get much use. The southern loop would help because people would use it rather than crossing the new bridge.

It's funny that everyone bitches about this.

If it does happen, I'm thoroughly going to enjoy the daily griping of loop construction threads.

Y'all have no idea. Took over a year for Houston to complete about 25 miles of the third loop on the North side of town. I can only imagine how long that would take in Louisiana. 5 years? Over or under?

Except that most of the thru traffic in Baton Rouge goes down I-12
