I don't know what morons are blaming the start of the fires on climate change (probably no one)

Actor Russell Crowe has used his winner's speech at the Golden Globes to raise awareness of the deadly bushfire crisis in Australia. "Make no mistake. The tragedy unfolding in Australia is climate change-based," he said in a message read out on stage by show host Jennifer Aniston.
now that it's been debunked, the narrative has quickly shifted to "climate change may not have caused it, but it's supercharging it!"

Nah, you got busted and you're squirming.
And to the a-hole who said most who were arrested were for careless cigarette butts or campfires.
So, they were started AND spread AND exacerbated AND your mom's a stupid whore -

Almost 100 firebugs have deliberately started blazes across Queensland that have destroyed homes and consumed thousands of hectares of bushland.

As firefighters remained on high alert, police revealed 103 of the destructive fires that had lashed Queensland since September were deliberately lit.
Figures obtained by AAP revealed police had dealt with 98 people - 31 adults and 67 juveniles - for deliberately setting fires.

This is actually a really cool reason the fire is so bad - i know that wording sounds bad but check out this link.
LINK
The fire is so hot and big that when the hot air rises it essentially creates a massive fire / thunderstorm that makes the winds start whipping around, spreading coals and even creates lightning strikes which spark additional fires.

I think the point is this (bushfires) has been happening way before people were ever around adding CO2 to the atmosphere. People are naturally skeptical when other people start blaming humans for something that has always occurred naturally and is a big part of the Australian ecosystem and always has been

Damn, those arsonists must be really skilled at at starting fires to make this happen.

Or maybe it's the the "green" laws preventing controlled burns that they've always used to prevent this from happening.
This guy seems to agree

When there are big fires like they have been having in Australia and like they do in California. Since they happen in dry areas I automatically assume they were started one of two ways.
- Arson
- Lightening
Fires just don't pop up. Is this what some people claimed happened?

Well I guess I'm the only one who thought massive dry lightning storms caused by a firestorm was kind of cool.

not all of Australia is a desert
much of these fires are currently in the Blue Mountains, which are quite temperate
I have been to the Blue Mountains three times in the last decade. It is an immense area that has isolated fires pretty regularly. As a matter of fact, it was easy to see the remnants of one while we were there two years ago. It was pretty dry that July.
A drought simply exacerbates things. Is it "climate change?"...who knows. Next year, we may be discussing the floods in Australia (and how climate change caused those too). It is ashamed though, it is a beautiful area with some good people.
