re: So the Australia climate change fires were helped along by arsonists

I worry these climate psychos will start setting fires. It would suit their narrative.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's already happened.

Trying to push climate change? That makes no sense.
The climate is changing. This is Australia's driest and hottest month on record over 100+ years of keeping records. If you think that didn't aid in the spread of fires, I'm not sure what to tell you.
The ONLY thing up for debate is the CAUSE of climate change. And I don't have that answer and neither does anyone else on here.
It has almost become like two different religions. "I'm right, you're wrong. Neither of us have proof we're right, but I'm right and you're wrong."

There has been a 2 year drought with no measurable rain. This isn't some new phenomenon. Droughts happen. They were happening well before any human impact.

It is the hottest and driest season on record in recorded human history in Australia. I don't understand how you people don't understand that.
It isn't just "another drought".
It's like saying "It's just a cold front in January, it happens" if it got to -20 degrees in Baton Rouge. That doesn't just happen, it is an extreme anomaly that has never happened before.

ight...Australia has a fire season, but the year they have a particularly bad drought due to a positive IOD
That and the scaling back of controlled burns because of left wing lunacy is exacerbating the severity of these fires.

Well a quick google search shows this is fairly common in Australia, and recorded history there doesnt go back very far so dont have much of a sample size.

The Black Thursday bushfires, were caused in part by an intense drought that occurred throughout 1850 when the continent suffered from extreme heat. On 6 February 1851, a strong furnace-like wind came down from the north and gained power and speed as the hours passed. It is believed that the disaster began in Plenty Ranges when a couple of bullock drivers left logs burning unattended, which set fire to long, dry grass affected by the recent drought. The year preceding the fires was exceptionally hot and dry and this trend continued into 1851.

A 2006 report by the Bushfire CRC acknowledges the complexity of climate predictions pointing out "Much of [Australia's] vegetation has a complex evolutionary and dependent relationship with fire. Fire has been part of these environments for tens of thousands of years and much native flora and fauna remains dependent on it in various ways."

I haven't found anything that they have scaled back control burns in Australia
in fact, in appears that they went beyond their target for control burning the past year, despite the drought conditions which increase the chances of a control burn getting out of hand

Nobody can say with 100% certainty humans are the culprit. That's why people argue about it. Anyone who declares they are dead right or someone is dead wrong on the issue is arguing in bad faith. I'm not saying human effect on climate change is not real. I'm just saying I don't know, although I lean towards yes.

No, it doesn't. Great story about an 1851 brush fire
Droughts and brush fire season are common in Australia. This is by far the worst they've seen. You don't think the fact it is the hottest and driest season in record history in Australia has anything to do with this?
Why do you deny the climate is changing? It is a bizarre phenomenon. I'm not blaming it on people, the climate just changes. I think people have some inability to separate the fact climate is changing from thinking "this is a liberal conspiracy!". It is just a fact.
Debate the cause, that is all we can do.

I've clearly said that.

I never denied this? Just questioned the link of bushfires to climate change since it has been happening for so long and we have basically negligible amount of data to analyze since people have not been there that long. So yes while it may be the worst the people have seen it is likely definitely not the worst the country has seen before people started recording data

Drought might be the worst. I haven't seen anything say this bushfire is the worst they've had. Provide a link if you found something on it.

it is the worst they have had in populated areas
they have had some massive fires in the northern territory in the 1970s, but no one lives out there so they just let those burn

Was your point that numerous articles say that climate change has aided in the prolonged nature or intensity of the fires, while not stating that the were the cause?
Posted on 1/7/20 at 10:42 am to TheCaterpillar
I don't understand how people deny that things are somewhat different - the number of massive rain events we see now happening at a greater frequency are the biggest indication in our region.

What about the Hollywood Celebrities virtue signaling about the fires and climate change at the Golden Globes. Does that not count?
