My sister swears by her Roomba. She has a large open floor plan home and pets that are trained to shite outside.
If your pet shits your floor, you need more than a robot vacuum.

Huh? It has lasers that guide it around big obstacles and a bumper on front to stop it from ramming into things

If you get one, buy it from Hammacher Schlimmer. You can return it at any time for a full refund with no questions asked. We had one we bought years ago, it finally broke and sat around for 3-4 years. I finally remembered that they had a great return policy and called them up to process the return for a full refund. We bought a second one from them and plan to do the same thing if it breaks.

The neato does the border of a room and then the middle... then it moves on to the next room, until it runs out of new territory. If the battery gets low, it returns to base and charges, then picks up where it left off. Roomba doesn't do this - unless you put the weird IR towers all over your house
The only negative i would give Neato is that it doesn't have a sensor to detect an extra messy area. Roomba can do this and keeps passing over one area until the volume picked up decreases

Then don't buy her a vacuum. Or any appliance for that matter. Idiot

Why does this keep coming up? I've had multiple pets, and none of them ever shite on the floor. Ever.
Dog shits outside. Cats go outside or shite in the litter box.
Anyway, the Roomba is great. It vacuums, I watch TV. We have a fantastic relationship.

If my dog is sick and inside the house they will shite/vomit on the floor. It happens

We have one. Like others have said, it works great in the common open areas. Not so much in the back of the house where the bedrooms are. You will be happy with it, but don't throw your old vacuum away.

Do not get a Roomba. The Neato >>>>> Roomba.
The Roomba misses spots all over the place. The Neato has the patent on the technology that makes it not miss a spot, whereas the Roomba just goes in random directions.
Do some reasearch before you buy.
We don't have to vacuum anymore. My wife is a neat freak and the Neato gets places we didn't even get before.

Been looking at these myself. Sure glad this came up.
Oh, did give the wife her Mother Days gift. A new bike to ride with the grandson.
She fell in love with it right off the bat. So, that was one knocked out the park.

Roomba killed my lamp too!

Get her a maid service for a year instead of spending money on that. Have your whole house cleaned on once a week. She'd probably appreciate that more.

Any Neato in the botvac series is the right choice. The botvac is the newer model and is much better. Do the prep to make sure you don't have stuff all over the floor and it will do an awesome job. My first floor is about 2,300 sf all hard floors and my Nestor d80 does the whole thing without issue.

I got a $300 Neato for Christmas because it was rated best for pet hair. It's awesome. Only thing it ever got stuck on was the Christmas tree because it thought it could climb. It is square so it gets in corners great unlike the round Roomba. Works great on carpet too which shocked me.

The only major fault with the neato is that the dirt bin fills up really quick, we have a beagle, and the bin may have to be emptied at least twice on a charge. It still amazes me on how much it picks up
