I was really looking into a new truck about 3 months ago. Down to either a Sierra 1500 or a Ford F-250. Then the whole “shortage” BS came about and jacked up the prices.

I’m postponing buying until this time next year.

Understandable. But I don’t have the option to wait. I’ve got to have a new truck by the end of June.

Doesn’t really matter. I get a monthly vehicle allowance.

Which is just a little extra pay compared to your overall compensation. Of course it matters.

GMC or Chevy with the 6.2L and 10sp. If the stipulations is actually V8, otherwise the 3.0 Diesel is also a good option.

Depending on what all you want, the GMC AT4 is a really nice vehicle. I have a ‘19 GMC SLT with the 5.3L. As mentioned, the interior is nothing special. The new ‘22 is coming soon with an updated interior, but you can’t wait for it.

The Ram is incredibly nice on the inside, but still so many questions about drivetrain and reliability. Tough stigma to shake.

Find a ten year old Toyota or Nissan with less than a 150,000 miles on it and call it a day.

Never mind, get a new Toyota or Nissan.

Any of those would be fine except the Ford. Ford’s suck. And the new ones rust rapidly.

Can you spring for the Sierra AT4? It’s the off-road package. They always looks sweet as hell on the road

Go back and reread my OP. Foreign makes are not an option.

I have a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 5.3 SLE and 8 speed. Get around 18-19 MPG doing 75. It's a nice truckm, very roomy, rides really well, very quiet.

Ford had to cut F series production to almost nothing because of the chip shortage.

Chevy is still cranking out Silverado’s but they won’t have the cylinder deactivation feature that saves fuel. So that might be your only option. That and the Sierra.

I prefer the looks of the Sierra. And the new Ford’s are rust buckets anyways.

But I would try a Ram out. They have improved a lot from a longevity standpoint. Probably right behind GM, certainly miles ahead of Ford by now.

It won't be a Ford. There are thousands of them built sitting at a racetrack waiting on chips. It could be 6 months or more before they are ready to go.

This. Either this or for a little cheaper the Chevy 1500 Silverado Trail boss (the Chevy version of the Sierra AT4).

I'm getting one of the two when the supply issue eases up a bit.

So you have to buy your own truck, but they can tell you what to buy?

Do they keep paying the note if you quit or get fired?
