I mean Columbus committed mass genocide
King may have done some shady shite, I don't know i haven't researched it, but it does not begin to equal mass fricking genocide

Just quoting a supposed article?
No credible link?

If any MLK historian is equipped to weigh the validity of the FBI file evidence,
The problem, as multiple other historians pointed out, is he all but ignored the culture of the FBI under Hoover at that time, and he took the claims from FBI agents as truth with little to no scrutiny. Which is counter to prior statements he had made over being skeptical of FBI documents from that era.
Also, it wasn't a book. It was an essay several American outlets refused to run and it first appeared in a British outlet before all the usual conservative sites picked it up.

He openly supported the Viet Cong.

Some of MLKs closest confidants have confirmed the affairs over the years.

I agree. However, it is the modern way. And sweeping the negative under the rug and/or outright dismissing it as racist propaganda sets a concerning precedent, as well. In reality, acknowledging the negative does not decrease the impact of the positive. It simply acknowledges the reality of the past.
Now, should that reality be used to destroy the legacy of a person? No. Is it currently being used as a means to shape our view of history in regards to most every subject? Yes.

What does the bedroom have to do with it? He openly disliked gays, he was A socialist, the cheating on his wife thing just goes against his Christian nature and doesn't bother me. I mean more on his beliefs outside of the equality for African Americans and how he viewed women/gays.

Discrediting MLK for his many documented character flaws has been a cottage industry for decades. Usually done by men with even bigger flaws. As if his flirtation with Communism and plagiarizing and philandering somehow negates his larger message and put-your-money-where-your-mouth-is courage. MLK Jr. belongs to history now for his message that America NEEDED to hear, and we are adult enough to understand the complexities and imperfections of human nature. He was imperfect. His message however, was near-perfect and a medicine we needed to drink.
Here's to MLK, Jr among the bravest of peace-time men. A fine flawed American.

get back to me when it comes out he outright led and controlled the Viet Cong that would be a proper equivalent.

Your talking about numerous deaths due to the direction of these individuals as superior commanders. King preached pacifisim. WTF???
And then there's Thomas Jefferson, the man who put words to paper some of the most brilliant ideals of liberties and freedom that political entities have studied and will continue to study and emulate for years to come...heretofore to be known as the man who knocked up Sally Hemings.

Why? History says General Lee was a bad person because he fought for the south even though he was against slavery and that George Washington was a bad person because he owned 200+ slaves.

Ehhhhh, I wouldn't say that.
Just because someone is anti-Vietnam War doesn't make them pro-Viet Cong.

Yes as did a lot of people but they didn't openly support the Viet Cong like he did.

None of this discredits what he did.
You say teach about it as some sort of balanced approach. You want to balance the image as a way to discredit what he did.
