Why is everything more complicated these days? Why can't I hire people like my grandfather did back in 1946? Why are cars more complicated now than in 1955, we're still going to the supermarket?

We did return to the Moon - just didn't land. Landing missions are coming.

I mean, everything being relative in order to keep a sense of perspective......every person currently in Hawaii is also in Baton Rouge. They got within 4,070 miles of the moon's surface on the closest approach.

I guess they think it was the Good Guy Moon Men techs who set up those laser retroflectors dropped off by the Apollo 11 crew on the Sea Of Tranquility.

The ones still reflecting laser beams back to Earth still to this day.

They didn't throw it there like a frisbee, folks.

Sea Of Tranquility

I bet the fishing for Reds is great there. No overfishing, minimum pollution, and just thousands of years to do their thing. I hope I live long enough to get a charter there. I hope it is before we get Moon game wardens set up.

They were filming him leaving the bar and he was supposed to fling the door open and leave in a Jim Carey way and he stopped to ad lib that and they just rolled with it

Ok. Question still remains. 1972 was the last time we landed on the moon. Why is the result not replicatable today? Again, I'm not making an argument one way or the other, but from a logical aspect, we have advanced quite a bit since 1972. . . Why is getting back to the moon not routine procedure by now.

What would be the point? In 1972 it took about 5 minutes to fax a single page of text and cost about $7 in 1972 dollars. It takes about 2 seconds to send that same page of text around the world today and it costs about nothing. In 1972 if you wanted to take a taxi from point A to B a person would have to drive the damned thing....they are running all over Atlanta as we speak without a liviing soul in them. We've been to the moon. Going back again and again would no doubt result in all manner of net positives as a result of the collective spending just like our going to the moon did the first few times around....but we can't even agree, as a nation, who won an election, how we gonna keep on spending $95 billion on landing the first black person first and female on the moon? Back in the day we were terrified of collective spending and we developed computer technology and Tang by going to the moon. Today we argue over biological men playing women's sports as if it happens (watch folks claim it is out of control LOL). Its actually pretty amazing the damn thing left the earth in the political environment of the last 46 years.....

They are testing out this spacecraft. This is ALWAYS done in phases.

Not the lunar module used to land astronauts on the moon and then return them to space before coming back in the late 60s and early 70s. There was no way to realistically test them on Earth in a low gravity oxygen free environment it would find on the moon.

They had so many issues with components they could test on the ground. Whether on take off, in space, or returning to Earth, NASA has had numerous major mechanical issues. NASA has lost 17 astronauts. And all inside our own atmosphere, where it should be easier to test and safer for astronauts. But they never had any issues on the moon.

The machines we couldn’t really test all operated just fine on the moon each and every time. While the machines we could test routinely had technical issues.

They were very fortunate.

I am not saying we didn’t walk on thr moon. But damn it is amazing no one has done it since and Nasa somehow lost much of the blueprints, technical data, technology and telemetry data from the Apollo program.

How does that happen?

Whether we go today, tomorrow, or 100 years from now doesn’t dismiss the theory that they were faked the first time.

They tested the lunar module in Earth orbit (Apollo 9) and a full dress rehearsal without landing (Apollo 10).

We stopped going to the Moon. It was a "use or lose" capacity. We've already covered that in this thread.

I've already said it, but you're spot on - the human capital we had back then just dwarfs what we have now. It's not even close.

What does Artemis II orbiting the moon have to do with proof of moon landing?

Serious question, I haven’t heard of any proofs they’ve shared granted I haven’t looked at social media or turned on the tv hardly at all since this weekend

The Indian Space Program's Moon orbiter took pics of the Apollo 11 and 12 landing sites, showing the equipment left behind a few years ago.

Proof we landed on the moon by another entity besides NASA has already been presented to the world.

You can't convince people their beliefs are wrong.

Most of these hard lined conspiracy theorists are easy to explain. Deeply insecure about their own capabilities, probably well aware they are a little slower than most, so they cling to ideas that make them feel smarter than everyone else, provide them with some superiority. At it’s core, holding so tightly to those ideas is a coping mechanism.

I have no way of knowing if we did or not. First reaction is that we did land decades ago but alas the government has lied to us about everything else.
Butttt if I were you I’d probably pay better attention to the conspiracy theorists as they have been proven right about the OVERWHELMING majority of conspiracies in the past few years.
