In fairness, they got Reed (also a former marine) back from Russia earlier this year. Whether bull shite or not Whelen was convicted of espionage so the Russians might require more than Bout to let him out.

I think the fact that Whelen has been a lower priority for administrations has a lot to do with the fact he was kicked out of the Marines for attempted theft of $10k among other things. They prioritized Reed because he was by all accounts a "good" Marine.

The one point that keeps getting overlooked is why was she in Russia in the first place?
All we heard when a bunch of (mainly) white male golf pros left the PGA for the LIV tour was how evil they were. They were helping the Saudis to "sportswash" themselves and their winnings were literally "blood money!!!".
Why haven't the usual suspects on here who are daily displaying their virtue standing with Ukraine castigated her for accepting blood money from Putin's oligarch buddies? Why have none of the talking empty heads in the media excoriated her for sportwashing Russia???

Agreed. I never personally served, but have lots of family that have and some who are still serving. So, I have the utmost respect for those who volunteer their lives to serve like the marine who The administration couldn't give less of a shite about.
