As someone previously noted, FedEx Home Delivery folks are independent contractors and they are financially penalized if they do not attempt delivery of every package every day. If a truck breaks down and it takes a few hours to bring in another truck and driver, the packages still have to be delivered.

And to rub salt in the wound, if you call and complain about some poor driver delivering late, that is also a financial penalty - so don't.

It’s not that uncommon I don’t think. You don’t get off of work until your route is done.

Isn't there some kind of law against drivers working long hours?

Saw a spotlight coming through my front door about midnight during the holidays and while I grabbed one of the guns randomly laying around the house I peeked out another window and saw a UPS driver with a headlamp. How that did didn’t die by any homeowner he delivered to that night I don’t know.

FedEx, at least my local FedEx, is the worst delivery company I have ever encountered.

They constantly miss delivery dates, often say delivery attempt was made (when there never was), or damage my shipments. I currently am in the process of a $1,000 claim with them that has taken a full month to process now.

That is pretty wild to be delivering at 12:30 am.

Um, no. Getting woken up in the middle of the night for a non-emergency business situation is grounds for a complaint, no matter what.

Trucks break down because of a lack of maintenance. Independent contractor should have done his due diligence to avoid this situation in the first place.

Yesterday, there was a delivery guy making deliveries in our neighborhood in what looked like a personal vehicle, some blue sedan

That's a hard, dedicated worker. Instead of calling FedEx and complaining, your mom should've tipped the dude for delivering her Lovehoney King Cock on her lonely Friday night.

Our fedex guy has delivered packages around 9-10pm before but he never knocks. Just leaves the package and is gone.

I know a single lady that's door was knocked upon at 2AM and she cocked her gun and they ran like hell. He said he was delivering pizza with no pizza sign and she never ordered it. Always be prepared to protect your self and home. There are so many crack heads that will invade you for drug money.

You can't always prevent breakdowns. What a stupid comment.
