0z GFS still not on board with a winter event. But it does give south LA some Friday afternoon flurries instead.

according to my dad people were walking on the lake pontchartrain ice sheets, that's wild to think about
Yep
South shore was frozen out about 75-100 yards.

Latest NAM is a lot drier.

I’m not sure.
According to the local channels in NOLA, they are basically saying there is a very small chance wintry mix. Basically just concerned about bridges...and only on the Northshore. Just a cold arse rain.
Baton Rouge to Lafayette, however, seems to be the bullseye for freezing rain / sleet.

That freeze gave BR its Christmas surprise of the Exxon explosion.

Would have been great to see. I remember the 89 event well was growing up in Bourg LA at the time. I also found an old newspaper clipping from 1962 where Robinson canal in chauvin froze over that’s a 20+’ deep channel with current think about that… father in law said people were walking on the frozen ponds in the marsh. He lived down there at that time

I usually wait until The Boat gives us an update on Tim McGraw country and then extrapolate from that.
