can’t believe more than just my regular downvote stalker got me there. Do people actually want to be iced in with no power? This place is weird…

Some people are just miserable twats.

I think people want a day or two off work to sit by the fire and drink beer. Not an inch of ice that knocks out power a week

At this point areas like Br or Lafayette can reasonably expect slick bridges and overpasses early friday morning. That is to say the moisture doesn’t over perform and cause more problems, or under perform and we get nothing. Will be nowcasting a lot with this one

I'd rather it be warm so I can play golf and drink beer, but to each his own.

18z HRRR is continuing to delay the temp drop. It is coming into line with the NAM. NAM doesn't get the temp below freezing until the precip has moved through and dry air has taken over. The only areas impacted with freezing rain on the 12z NAMnst are immediate coastal areas where the offshore precip lingers as the front drags through the Gulf.

It has always been a timing issue with the freezing line diving South. The temp drop has gotten progressively slower over the runs, and it looks like the precip just outruns the temps.

I would guess even if the wet outruns the freezing cold, wet roads with freezing temps would be an issue for SELA. Or no? I'll hang up and listen

I'm sure the usual places could have problems. Bridges, overpasses, shaded wet areas. The bigger impacts of freezing rain accumulations are what you want to avoid.

A couple of big hail producing cells out there right now. One north of Monroe and one about to go through Longview, Tx. They’re popping on CC.
