One of the men Smith had been eating with just before his killing, Reserve Police Officer Billy Ceravolo, has now hired a lawyer. That comes amid allegations he helped put Smith's gun back in the car after the shooting.

He would have to be the dumbest cop in history if he did that. Everybody knows that they could fire that gun in a lab and obtain ballistics to match up with anything found at the scene.

Not to mention the extra shell casing... there's no way a cop would be that stupid right?

A smarter thing to do would be to get rid of the gun altogether... not simply put it back in the glove box.

I suspect former NOPD officer & reservists numbnuts took the gun with the other NOPD officers permission to hid it. Problem was that several witnesses saw the gun before he took it. Word leaked out and he replaced the gun a couple of days later hence leading to the mysterious we need a search warrant to search the car to find the gun on the floorboard.

shite show of shite shows and I'm glad the federal government is spending $32 million in compliance costs to fix the NOPD. As a taxpayer I feel like this

10 in the mag, 1 in the chamber? Or did they recover a different casing?

Billy Ceravolo, the retired New Orleans police officer who dined with Will Smith on the night the former Saints defensive end was killed, has hired a criminal defense attorney for guidance in the case.

Tanya Picou Faia enrolled Friday (April 22) as Ceravolo's defense attorney, court records show.

For those of you keeping score the attorney representing Ceravolo is Tanya Picou Faia is the grand daughter-in-law of Tom Benson. Tom Benson's grandson is Trevor Faia.

well, that might explain the passenger door hole?

if he got his hand on the gun, maybe reflexively pulled the trigger, then someone tried to stash it?

i dont know what in the hell the story is on this one yet, but its been very strange from the get go. even if hayes is 100% at fault and guilty, the string of info has not seemed to quite add up as a real version of events yet.

Very interesting.

The chances of this case being black and white are getting slimmer and slimmer.

i said in the other hayes thread last week, i thought maybe the first two distinct rounds came from smiths gun, and the shots heard later were from hayes. its plausible that he accidentally shot his wife. and that those casings "went missing"

ETA: it just sounded so strange on the presser that first came out said "no other "visible weapons" were seen, and that we have recovered all the casings and they all match hayes gun"
so soon after the incident. they tried to get out in front of it.

NOPD investigating claims Will Smith may have fired first

"A source close to the investigation tells WWL First News that detectives are working to determine definitively if allegations are true that Smith not only got his gun out of his car, but fired at least one shot."

Cops are looking very seriously now into some witness reports and allegations that the former Saints player retrieved a gun from his car before he was shot and killed in a confrontation with another driver.

So there were 11 shots fired in total and Hayes gun only held 10 rounds leaving 1 fired round unaccounted for per NOLA

I don't think that's anything. Prudent to hire attorney if you are being called to testify in a high profile case.

Federal investigators are reportedly also interested in the allegations of a cover up.

No, no, no. You must be mistaken. That's not how Chad said it went down.

Smith fired shots at his wife outside vehicle then lunged back into the car to reach for his pistol which he already had while he was being shot in the back 8 times. YOu sir are a brilliant ignorant frick.

Reports are starting to trickle in that Hayes didn't shoot the wife but rather Will Smith's first shot actually hit her accidentally when he grabbed the gun. This is why they didn't charge him with injuring the wife and why you haven't heard a peep from the wife.

I'm wondering if when Smith fired the first shot that it scared the hell out of Hayes who then fired in self defense thinking that Smith was firing at him. The Fog of War

we will see....

my initial completely made up guess is that maybe that bullet hole in the passenger door was him grabbing the gun and accidentally firing and hayes just fired as a response to the guy that hes arguing with and possibly threatening him with a gun had a gun shot go off.

would explain the 9 bullets staying in, 1 getting out and possibly 1 mystery bullet going through the passenger door.

the smith hitting his wife would be a curveball in that but i still do not get the mechanics of where everyone is supposed to have been for this and my guess was just piecing the one extra bullet hole with smith being shot in the back and slumping into the car.

No, getting a warrant to search vehicles is pretty much sop.

That's a lot of specificity based on something that is pure speculation at this point.

Expecially considering the ballistics did not initially reveal a gun firing, and if it did, it was "hidden." Seems like a lot of extrapolation and speculation without many logical facts.
