Almost no one likes their current government, but y'all seem to have (legitimate) bigger gripes and criticism than any other locale.

If you were dictator, what would you do to MNOGA?

Legalize weed. We need the revenue, the reduction in operating expenses and a way to attract young people to stay.

Split NOLA into three cities.

New Orleans
Algiers
New Orleans East

Refocus income taken in from those areas into those areas.
Form their own municipal services.

Build another container port near 9th ward.

Offer free land for industrial use to large companies from city held land in Lower Algiers and New Orleans East.

Disband the Sewage and Water board and rebuild totally from ground up.

Ancillary crime for slingin' weed is a real thing, but I doubt it's a major driver for any kind of disparate crime.

Develop nicer suburbs and simplify the tax code. BR, Nola aren't all that different from places like Birmingham or Mobile but we have shittier suburbs and a worse business climate.

If people are going to stay because we legalize weed, we're fricked.

The corruption, graft, thievery amongst the political class is already illegal. Everyone on the inside is on a gravy train of money and power. They will never give that up. Those who WANT good government and ethical business practices can play that game, or go elsewhere. So many do. Of course other areas all over the world have it, but not to the degree we do which completely prevents improving on a local and state level.

Invest in education and transportation infrastructure.

And I don’t mean throwing cash away at the direction of teacher unions. I mean real reform with funding to back it up.

NOLA needs a great, world-class, amusement park. Something for kids to do.

If only they had that.
