Would a background check have prevented this gay racist from having a gun? Just curious.

No, not at all. It has already been stated numerous times he purchased the gun lawfully. Had this purchase been blocked, he could have stolen a gun or even walked up to them with a vest laced with explosives.

The guy had a mission to kill those people. The gun he used is not the issue. Period. End of story.

Norway, France hell I'll even include the post 9-11 terrorist acts in England. Put them all together and we have quadruple maybe 5 times as many mass killings

But would you rather be in a position to defend yourself from a knife / blade or someone with a gun?

Yes. He wanted to kill them. Yes, without guns he would have likely have tried to kill them. But the idea is to make it more difficult to do it.

Is it easier to kill multiple people with a gun or a knife? Sure. I guess he could have gone with explosives, but that is a far more difficult undertaking for most than simply getting a gun.

I'm not saying it'll solve the problem or that murder will just disappear, but it will make it more difficult for people to kill each other, especially en masse.

And after he is finished beating your stupid arse to death with that hammer, I am going to shoot him. In the face. But I am still going to wait until he is finished with you... wouldn't want my gun to offend (save) you. Moron.

In your case I think we need to discuss some sensible First Amendment restrictions. Isn't it time?

Did you really expect the parents to come out and say "We failed as parents and are fully to blame"?

How does their daughter being murdered by a crazy racist make them bad parents?

The only restriction that would hold any meaning would be to restrict at the point of production. And that is unlikely. Restricting honest purchase doesn't help whatsoever, it's merely appeasement in lieu of tragedy.

What is "it?" Gun ban and total confiscation? A mental health check before buying? What are you referencing?

shite like this is why conspiracy theorists think these events are staged in order to attack guns. In a matter of days her parents have been all over talking about gun control instead of grieving and dealing with their family and funeral arrangements? That's the last thing most parents would do.

Oh, fine. Only First World country where this happens, with any regularity. But by all means keep comparing the United States to Pakistan, China and whatever other strawman point you were trying to make.
Wait a minute and slow your roll on the 2nd amendment. Based on this statement we should ban the first amendemnt. Ban free speech because of crazy talk.

They are going through an emotional time right now. They should be excused for having an emotionally-driven opinion.

That wouldn't have saved their daughter. This guy was crazy and people were hesitate for referring him as being that way because of fear they may be labeled a racist or a homophobe. Couldn't this guy's family sense anger growing in him? Why didn't they do something?

As far as I know, he was never treated for mental illness. What kinda common sense background check are you proposing?

Libs want anyone treated for depression/anxiety banned from getting guns.

Not even close. There have been multiple mass school shootings in Germany in the last 15 years. Same for Russia and France. Do you people just make this shite up?

Multiple? Oh wow. You've convinced me. There are no problems with gun violence in America. Shut it down!

Nonsense. If they don't personally know about it then it doesn't exist.
