The kid is most likely living with his single mom whose supervision of him is less than adequate. He has probably seen people resolve their differences by shooting each other.
So he’s like a pit bull puppy being raised by a pit bull mom. All he knows is the pack mentality cause he’s being raised by a pack of pit bulls and sees how pit bulls settle differences.
Do whatever you’d do with a vicious pit bull puppy then.

Where were these students when I was a teacher.

When I was a kid there were two brothers who lived in my neighborhood, Mark and Mikey. Those two were cussing from the time they were in diapers and smoking cigarettes when they were 4-5 years old, no lie. I remember one time when the younger one (Mikey) was making catcalls at a woman who was walking her dog, saying stuff like, "Show me that arse, show me them titties" and the police were called - he was only 5 or 6 years old. Of course they came from a single-parent home and their mom cursed up a storm and smoked like a chimney. Kids are a product of their environment - age doesn't mean much.

10 years ago I never heard of Newport News. Now. Seems like every other month it's making national news

And the school just yesterday got back to the parent saying the parent of the kid said it was a nerf bullet and the parent said nerf bullets aren't shiny and gold.
bullshite.

When we have a perceived threat or issue, we do random metal detection on those days,' Parker said
That’s questionable.

It is unclear if the school had enhanced testing after the bullet claim the week prior.
This closing remark isn’t really inspiring a lot of confidence.
Was a 6 year old able to conceal a firearm through the school’s metal detectors? Or did the administration neglect to search the student with wands, individually. The threat was named specifically, so you’re not worried about running hundreds of kids through the turnstile, wanding them, and searching their school bag as they enter in the following morning.
Either way….it’s public ed
He’ll be back on campus by March 1st.

I hate to be this guy but I bet the child was an African American and teacher was a white lady. Otherwise, if it was a white boy who shot a AA teacher it would have been plastered all over the article.
This is terrible and the parents should be prosecuted with the child. This will be used to assault gun ownership rights instead of the true issus of individual accountability, mental health and etc.
Hope the teacher pulls through without any permanent injuries.

Look up "Killing of Kayla Rolland". Poor, innocent six year old girl got killed by a classmate of the same age at school. They can't call it "Murder of Kayla Rolland" because a six year old is not capable of murder. He apparently got the gun from his uncle's house. Nothing happened to the kid, nothing happened to his mom, and his uncle went to jail for 2 years, I think. Just a shite show all around.
As you can expect, the kid who shot the little girl is in his late 20's now and has had numerous run ins with the law. The Wikipedia article didn't post his name but you can find him easily by Google search.

This actually happened in Newport News last year. A kid shot a kid the previous summer and was awaiting trial, They then sent the kid to the regular high school and he killed another student.

You're not actually suggesting putting down a 6 year old?
He needs to be punished along w/his parents/grandparents, but to even suggest killing him(if that's what you're suggesting) is just wrong.
Hopefully that kid gets professional help and his caregivers are punished severely.

If only the teacher was armed......

Not saying to put him down, but wondering at what age are they still "save-able"? Up until what point can you reverse everything that they have learned and seen so far, instill values and morals, a work ethic, etc... and what is the likelihood?

When you’re having to metal detect for weapons and ammunition on 6 year olds, the battle for those children’s souls is already lost. Every adult in Newport News, Va. should hang their fricking heads in shame, but not one adult will. The concept of parental responsibility and shame has been bred out of them.

My wife taught kindergarten at a shite school and legitimately feared one of her 5 year old students was going to bring a gun to school and try to kill her.
It's a fricking jungle out there.

Can’t even imagine a 6 yr old doing something like this intentionally but then again when animals breed more animals in a consequence free environment that glorifies violence this is the outcome you achieve. Our inner cities are devolving back to tribal violent behavior and the sad part is no one wants to hold them accountable. shite like this doesn’t happen with responsible parents that instill morals in their children.

Not even remotely surprised.
Yep, that area has a problem with Wakandan violence.
Here's a story of a white couple being beaten by a mob of black teens.
Local media suppressed the story in the wake of Trayvon Martin's involuntary suicide.
