I was making fun of the person that insinuated that strep was a virus and not a bacteria

Antibiotics for strep without even running a test. Only visual inspection of ears and throat

I'm not a doctor or anything. In fact, I'm a simpleton, but maybe he/she can tell it's strep from a visual inspection.

Normally they can visually identify it.
again. Even if its identified, what good will antibiotics do against a VIRUS?

To be fair the bacteria that causes strep is kinda a “dumb” bacteria that is still susceptible to 1st generation antibiotics so its not as big an issue as other things

so it's no big deal then to preimplantativly prescribe antibiotics for bacterial Streptococcus?

If a doctor sees pus pockets in a kid's throat, he's getting antibiotics.

Strep is not a virus. It's a bacteria.

What are you rambling on about man? Strep is a bacteria. Viruses do not gain “immunity” by poor antibiotic stewardship. Bacteria can gain resistance by poor antibiotic stewardship.

If your kid had fever, lymphadenopathy, lack of a cough and tonsillar exudates, strep is a slam dunk and the doc saved you some unnecessary testing.

You probably also would have been upset if they ran a strep test and you got a bill for it.

You probably also would have been upset if you weren’t offered antibiotics and the doc told your kid it was viral, stay hydrated, take Tylenol and suck it up.

Bottom line, if you didn’t like or trust the doctor then find a new one, but second guessing the doctor and calling the doctor out on a subject you clearly have absolutely no clue about is dumb, and makes you look ignorant.

Trust the doctor because you're clearly a moron.

Strep throat is a bacterial infection.

Again, you don't know anything. Listen to the doctor.

Strep can be diagnosed simply by history and exam. Typically will see a characteristic grey/white tonsillar exudate. Don’t need to get any lab work. Stick to watching Scrubs, baw, and leave the doctoring to the professionals.

Plus a lot of the rapid strep tests can be inaccurate.

Strep throat is not caused by a virus. If she suspects strep via a visual inspection, she will prescribe antibiotics to treat it

Given the heightened risk of bacterial infection from having viral tonsillitus, I see no issue. Either it's strep or something else.

I got destroyed this time last year by strep. Ended up coughing up two walnut sized exudate balls that I had aspirated.

Nearly choked to death.

I was gargling with bourbon every two hours.
