I can't imagine making that kind of money, especially considering my car is paid off and I have no student loan debt.

Looking at what I'm going to owe makes me want to puke
Either I'm going to go the public service route and have it forgiven in 10 or hope I get an inheritance

I can think of $5k in monthly expenses without thinking more than 3 seconds thar would disappear.
Easy. I would have a much smaller mortgage payment if I had one at all. Cell phone bill would be about 20% of what it is now. Gas would be cut by 2/3. Car insurance, medical insurance, food. The list is endless. Thinking about this makes me realize I spend very little money on myself.

Are you putting any money in your retirement accounts when paying off your loans?
no i have no retirement right now. i have a savings, but my SL interest rates are higher than what i could get in retirement right now, so i'm focusing on killing them (at least the 2 remaining ones. i just don't see how i'll come out ahead by taking that money and putting it in investments that will have lower interest outputs
now once i get those 2 killed, i may go see my financial adviser

Violates the formula: half your age plus 7 years.

i'm not going to have a year like 2016 again, likely, but at least for a few years until i figure out my master plan
i'm actually getting relatively busy with my unique lawyer situation which means i may actually generate a large amount of revenue for my setup this year (maybe even $75k)
i started playing poker as an income supplement, also
one day i'll put real effort into my media output and see if that can lead to revenue sources

Pretty much how I see it with myself
How old are you by the way. I am 29. Hope to have my loans paid off in 4-5 years at the most. Just don't want to start with my retirement accounts too late.

27 here.. didn't put anything in retirement my first year of working.. Saved and got a good little pad to fall back on and now I pay my mortgage, loans and everything else and now I'm putting the 4% of the company match into a 401k. It's working out ok so far. That and renting my condo a few weekends a year during football season for vacation money..

I could buy one hell of an offshore fishing boat with what I pay for private school.

Depends on the age
It would be amazing at 25-30
After 40? Probably would get a bit old and/or lonely after awhile.
I'll never know so...

I was making 6 figures in my 20s. I was by no means living like a baller though. I had rent, school loans, and of course taxes are brutal for single people.

yeah i think most guys in 20s/early 30s making that kind of money have massive student loans because of the jobs necessary to make that kind of money. kind of takes away a lot of the "life margin". the exceptions will be kids from rich families, but they're set anyway without that income
