The people I know that make serious income just are farther in life at a very young age. They have the things at 28 to 30 years old that successful 55 to 60 year old men have. Nice house, nice car, boat, etc.
I think it also has to do with the parents like you said. If you grew up with money, you're less likely imo to go crazy and blow it all on stupid shite

Rich kids don't have student loans or retirement to worry about. Must be nice.

Yeah, plus cost of living out here is a bitch. Looking back, I definitely regret not enjoying life as much as I could have. I was always so obsessed with saving money that I held back on a lot of things.

Just small all in one
I wish
But even a 34 gallon setup would run me a few thousand dollars
Putting that on hold until my loans are paid off.
I've even been thinking of getting a part time job. Even though I make $85k which isn't bad, just anything to get my loans paid off faster. I've applied at some restaurants but they all seem to want full time availability and I just want to work weekends

Wouldn't know. Kids and wife drain the frick out of me.

I think that sometimes. But the wife and I make more than that together and have no kids. I kind of think that's the sweet spot. All of our friends are married so it wouldn't be much fun being the only single person while making that much money.

Living in Cali it would be hard to survive on less than a 100K. shite is outrageous out there.

Reading all the student loan nightmare shite makes me very grateful that the job my dad had at the time paid tuition to any in state public school for his children. It got phased out a year after I graduated.

I want a Red Sea tank
I figure if I am going to get one, might as well do it how I want the first time around. Otherwise I wont ever be satisfied with it

It's not a bad gig. I'm 33, I finished my OMFS residency when I was 29 and got a job with an existing practice making a salary that I once thought was just crazy money. 2 years ago I went on my own and opened my own practice. I wish I had done it from the get go. I lost a ton of money by working for someone. Fortunately, I have a girlfriend who is also a successful dentist, so I am pretty sure she isn't with me for the money.
But, back to the original question, it is a great feeling knowing if you want to go to Hawaii or Europe or wherever, you can just go and live it up.

This is how I would be. My job offers a ton of pto, I can work remotely from anywhere, and the airline miles and hotel point balances are always flush.
