I just spent a week in Shreveport. I was amazed at how much it sucked given what I had heard about it here. The flying heart brewery was excellent though. Boosier is apparently booming, but didn’t spend much time there due to work.
Until this state gets serious about not electing total dumbasses the major metro areas will all have their flaws.

true, but bossier is better place for non criminals
Ironic becaus Bossier was once a haven for the trashy, shiftless, and just plain sketchy. See: Bossier Strip.

but much of these types of lists are due to suburb growth, not really people leaving the areas.
Correct. The Baton Rouge Metro Area population increases 1% - 2% per year:
2020 = 734,000
2019 = 722,000
2018 = 710,000
2017 = 695,000

I was born and raised in Shreveport. I got out in the early nineties but had to stay close enough because of family. Been in North Bossier for 20 years and it's like we've got an unswimmable moat. Shreveport trash stays in Shreveport and the decent people move here and keep raising my property value. Shreveport is an irredeemable shithole. It will never come back. They need to get that in their heads as fast as possible but that would require thought and thinking ain't their long suit.

What sucked about it? I’m curious....There’s some bad places but some really nice ones. Flying heart is pretty good & that Eastbank district will be very nice once they redevelop old Bossier.
Hopefully you checked out Great Raft brewing...one of best breweries in state. Red River brew good too. There about to open Seventh Tap Project down the street from GR. Not all bad stuff

& NO ONE from LC, Lafayette to NOLA can brag about where they live.
LC is a crap hole (albeit an economically booming one. If Covid and JBE haven’t already smothered the golden goose in its crib, LC might be a pretty decent place to be in another decade or 2), BR is a depressing wasteland of missry, and NOLA has its glaring issues to go along with its unique charms, but I’ll be damned if I let you insult Lafayette. Lafayette is a really pleasant place to live and raise a family. It’s a great small city. I would choose to live in Lafayette over Shreveport or Bossier any day.

Not even middle class blacks want to live in those shitholes.

Typical North Louisiana faux elitist. Yeah, keep telling me what a quaint, cultured, and beautiful town Rustin is. Oh yeah, It’s the Paris of the mid-south! Give me a f$&king break
Before you go trying to jump on me and call me ignorant, my mom is from Shreveport, so I spent a good bit of time there growing up. I went to summer camps up around Rustin and Minden and spent a good amount of time there as well. Also went to a bunch of science camps in Nachitoches. While Nachitoches is cute, that’s about the only good thing I can say about boring, dry, judgmental, foot-washing baptist, run down, crime-infested, north louisiana.
Seriously, what room does Shreveport have to criticize anyone? Like your downtown with its shitty riverboats and insane crime is somehow sooooo much better than br’s downtown with its shitty riverboats and insane crime? Get over yourself!
I’m not from Lafayette, but I have more than a few friends there and visit frequently. It’s a great place. Super nice people, cute houses, has some walkable neighborhoods, nice parks, great festivals, excellent food, the best brewery in Louisiana, solid music scene for its size, low crime, decent public schools, etc. The only flaws being the catty “keeping up with the Joneses” upper middle class culture, the economy reliant on oil (sound familiar?), the road grid leaves some room to be desired, but is improving, and it lacks a skyline, but it’s not really big enough to warrant a skyline in the first place. It’s just a really laid back, safe, and fun place to live and work....so long as you don’t have to drive down Kaliste Saloom, Verot School Road, Settler’s Trace, or Johnston Street by the Mall at rush hour.
Seriously, what does Shreveport have going for it these days besides a mothballed gm plant, at least one decent brewery, and a Chinese restaurant with an insane wine list in a city where everyone shuns you if you’re seen drinking in public?
As for me, I grew up in the mediocre bizzaro universe that is Ascension Parish, so I resent any accusations of growing up in some sort of mythical Lafayette bubble. I grew up in a very different bubble, thank you very much. One where disco never died, the 90’s never happened, and public school dances still played Wilson Pickett and Van Morison alongside Lil Webbie in 2005 and no one thought that was weird.
