People are leaving these shite holes faster than nearly everywhere

The table below shows 50 midsize cities in the United States that were shrinking the fastest from 2014-2019. California was at the top of the list with 15 cities. Southern and western states each had 16 cities in the top 50, while there were 11 cities from the Midwest and only seven in the Northeast. Although many cities on the list show signs of economic decline, some of the cities on the list are very prosperous. Wealthy, midsize cities were also included on the list such as Thousand Oaks in California. The data displays how economic growth is not always directly correlated to population growth, as the population dwindles in these types of cities due to poor housing affordability and low levels of construction of new housing.

that is because Shreveport sucks.

Not surprised by Shreveport, a bit surprised by BR.

Didnt the port citys mayor say they were one of the fastest growing cities? right before he is quitting to run for Senate.

Fine with me. Less traffic

Luckily there's plenty of third world to import for gap stoppage. Horray infinite growth!

Hmmmmmm.....I wonder what the common denominator is here....

Two items to consider here
1. Those numbers represent the city of BR, not the entire parish of EBR.
2. We had a massive flood in 2016 that certainly didn’t help growth for the city.
I have no argument for Shreveport

Why would you be surprised? Every time I've driven through BR, I've thought "what a shitty place"

also said they had a drastic decrease in crime. both obvious lies to anyone familiar with the area.

Clearly it's minor league baseball. Top 3 all have minor league baseball teams. First two are AA and number three is A. People get tired of seeing their favorite players called up, I guess, leading to alcoholism, suicide, family breakups, and urban decay.

Mobile, Montgomery, and Birmingham in AL all make the shrinking list.

true, but bossier is better place for non criminals to live, and Desoto parish has grown a shitload as well.
I think I will coin a term for this..... how about "white flight"?

It'd be more interesting to see which metro areas were shrinking. BR metro probably wouldn't be so high as LP and Ascension are still growing. Shreveport metro probably wouldn't change much.

Would BR's numbers be down because St. George pulled out of the city's numbers?

I think the metro population is fairly steady or growing slightly but people are opting for the burbs instead of the city.
