2. Meridian, ID

Meridian is located in Ada County, Idaho and is considered the state’s fastest-growing city. The annual growth rate of the city between 2014 and 2019 was 5.1% as the population grew from 89,174 residents to 114,161 residents. New residents are attracted to the city’s abundance of natural attractions as the city’s parks and recreation department manages 17 public parks. Blue Cross of Idaho, Citigroup, and Scentsy are a few of the major companies that are helping to drive the economy in Meridian.

Bossier and DeSoto have grown due to people leaving Shreveport, but not nearly as much as Livingston and Ascension.

This, and although the city population has declined, EBR parish hasn't. I believe it's the most populated in Louisiana.

That is city of Baton Rouge, not EBRP, which is now a destination of many from New Orleans/Metairie. I know several who have moved here since China Virus began

Huntsville growing at 1.4% per year clip

Huntsville is a city located in Alabama. With a 2020 population of 202,910, it is the 2nd largest city in Alabama (after ) and the 118th largest city in the United States. Huntsville is currently growing at a rate of 1.40% annually and its population has increased by 12.66% since the most recent census, which recorded a population of 180,105 in 2010.
The current population is at 202,910. It would put them tied at #48 on that list for fastest growing mid-size cities and slightly larger than #1 Frisco, TX.

Huntsville will be larger than Baton Rouge in five years, but less cultured.

High crime, horrible traffic, shitty public schools, incompetent city management led by a racist mayor and police chief who pander to NBR, etc. It makes me sad to see my home town circling the drain, because there is such potential there. Remove Broome from office in November and there is still hope. It would also help if y’all could vote out some of the morons on the Metro Council, but that may be asking too much.

I’ve seen first-hand how shitty management can ruin a city. Mayor Adler and our clown show of a city council are currently killing Austin. Homeless camps everywhere and bums all over downtown, and that’s just the beginning.

that is because Shreveport sucks.

And Baton Rouge doesn’t?

They’re basically the same city except BR has the bigger/better LSU campus.

2 actually.

3 if you separate the north loop (I-220) and south loop (3132).

BR is a lot closer to New Orleans, SELA fishing, and Florida beaches too. In a vacuum, Br is much much better than Shreveport.

“Because it’s closer to better stuff” isn’t a ringing endorsement of a place. If NOLA or Florida beaches are a selling point for BR, why don't you just live in one of those places? Proximity to fishing is equal for all of those so not necessary to mention.

Plus, looking at the 2 cities “in a vacuum” would mean that you don’t consider anything but the cities themselves. You have to remove context to look at things “in a vacuum.”

Austin will be alright due its economy. The huge tech scene, state Capitol jobs and UT will keeps its population growing. Louisiana doesn't really have any cities with stable job markets so the state will continue to stagnate/decline. The brain drain is real.

LOL what? Other than after Katrina, I've never heard of EBR Parish being a "destination" for NOLA ppl... NOLA peeps do not like Baton Rouge, at all.

I mean, if two places equally suck, but one is closer to places that suck less, would that not be a convincing tie-breaker?

I mean...it certainly helps

Example: Denver is really close to the skiing, but I don’t ski in Denver. Thus, Denver is a bette place than Baton Rouge. (Amidst the other myriad of reasons.)
