I don’t tip someone for doing their job. I tip people who wait on me. Yes, there’s a difference.

Not sure about CC’s, but Starbucks pays their employees very well.

I have changed my attitude about tipping. It's begun to bother me that employers are underpaying their employees and both parties expect the customer to make up the difference.

At first, this caused me to slow down with paying people just to do their jobs. Then I started thinking about it more. If I order an expensive steak, I tip more than if I get a hamburger. Why? The waiter does exactly the same thing when he brings my food. But 20% of one is a lot more than 20% of the other.
All I know is they're taking advantage of the customer and it took me a lifetime to catch on.

frick Starbucks. I like my local indie coffee shop. I want it to do well and retain good employees.

I do tip when they provide good service.

I though $2.25 was reasonable.

Yep. Black coffee is generally the same price whether it’s from fancy coffee shop or a truck stop. It’s those foamy, milky, fatty, sweet syrup flavored coffee-like drinks that cost so much.

If there are more than 3 steps for them to make my drink then I will give them a tip but for something simple like a Nitro Cold Brew, naw.

What about the places that want you to pay in advance AND want you to add a tip on their little tablet BEFORE they prepare your order.

Sign when you pay without adding gratuity then add at the end if you feel as if the service warranted it.

if you are dumb enough to pay $7-$12 for a fricking cup of coffee then you should be tipping no less then $100 on every transaction

Many of you are confused about what a coffee is.

What cup of coffee is $7?

Without getting all sorts of add ons, of course.

Ive worked in coffee shops. No one expects a tip for a cup of coffee. Would I take it if given, yup, but it was not expected.

Come in during a rush and drop a $50 order in food and drinks and dont tip... youre kind of an a-hole.

If youre a regular, tip occasionally. The odds of the staff hooking you up with free shots and potentially drinks goes up exponentially if you do.

Absolutely not. That's like being asked to tip the chef at a Chipotle.

I always give them a tip.

Usually it's along the lines of, "Go back to school."
