If someone is truly disabled and requires assistance, just give them cash and let them do what they want with it. That way they can spend it on food, housing, investments, or anything else that might be more beneficial than just food alone.

I'm all for them getting steak and lobster, as long as it's laced with something that makes them sterile.

I was in Tony's Seafood last year and a woman paid for 2 sacks of live crawfish with an EBT Card. Really pissed me off. Why because I am paying for that shite. I consider that a luxury item.

That would probably be more expensive. MRE's aren't cheap.

This is just a symptom of the real problem: the utter mismanagement of welfare programs means that people that do not need it are frequently getting it.

I think reasonable restrictions are allowable since the concept of just making them responsible for their purchases isn't viable in today's nanny state. Face it, all you people advocating that solution know damn well it won't fly.

On the same, I was behind a guy at the grocery recently who was buying a bunch of steaks on his EBT card. He loudly commented to the cashier that he was going to feed them to his dogs since the state wouldn't let him buy dog food with "HIS"' money. These people honestly believe they are entitled to my tax dollars and view restrictions as an infringement. We help by calling Welfare an Entitlement and renaming Food Stamps an Electronic Benefit. Hell, the Welfare Office is Social Services or Family Services now too.

People on food stamps are using others money to buy food. They should have no say in what they can get. In fact it should be like Wic where you can only get certain food.

Not really. An MRE is a day's worth of calories.

I spent dollars on a pack of bacon yesterday. Is that considered luxury? This is stupid, give them a limit and if they reach it to aoon, then oh well.

Maybe if you are soldiering. NOT if you are laying on a broken down couch or sitting on a chair on a porch seeing the world go by.

An easier solution would be to lower their awards. They are able to buy "luxury" food items because most receive enough money to be able to do so.

An MRE is roughly 12-1300 calories.

We should make the worthless food stamp people pick up trash on the interstate. We wouldn't have such a litter problem then

If that. Not even close if you can't stomach one portion of the MRE.
