The problem is they shouldn't be BUYING anything. It deludes them into thinking the money is THEIRS. They should be issued food. The inexpensive items mentioned like beans, rice, pasta. POOR quality cuts of beef and chicken. They should be forced to receive them at dispensaries and made to felt somewhat shamed.
This is the problem. There is no shame in our society anymore.
There used to be a stigma attached to receiving food stamps/welfare. People had pride. No more. And it ain't coming back anytime soon.

I'd rather them just block junk food that leads to obesity like fruit punch and twinkies.
But how you gonna block sugar, water, purple?

absolutely. They should be fed like prisoners till they free themselves from the bondage of being poor.

Our problems are more complex than having or not having shame. I don't even personally know anyone on foodstamps but I'm sure atleast one person I know is on them who wouldn't say anything, that is a result of shame.

i'd be okay with this.
but, if you are going to give them a card for buying food then, you shouldn't tell them what kind of food they can buy.

They will get the same amount of money no matter what, who gives a shite what they spend it on other than angry white folk?
Because these people are also on our dime when they have health issues.
And they are feeding their kids garbage processed sugar and fat for meals which further increases our obesity epidemic in children and puts them on a healthcare cycle that costs us money as well...for the next 60-70 years.
How people can’t see this is so bizarre to me. It’s such an obvious way to help this issue.

people buying lobster with food stamps? Granted, I dont shop at wal-mart. I've never seen anyone buying luxury items with food stamps. Junk food, yes. Luxury items, no.
They buy them and sell them for cash for cigs, alcohol, or drugs

We should concentrate them in certain areas. Areas suitable for agriculture so they could grow crops to feed themselves and others. They should be compelled to work these huge farms. They would be provided all of their food and clothing. I think crops like cotton would be perfect under these circumstances. If anyone can think of any other good crops I'd like to hear suggestions.

Things can ALWAYS be made to look complex to complicate things. If something is uncomfortable for you to do, you WILL find a way to cease doing it. When you give people money, it can be abused...evidence to obvious and everywhere. Give them what the money is for.

Now that stigma is that you're stupid for not trying to game the system to get all that theyre giving away.
And Trump agrees!

Okay Socrates. Our problem is shame, that's America's problem.

Trucks come up here from South Louisiana to sell the large Gulf shrimp. All the trucks have a sign "EBT Cards Accepted."

Thanks for the image. Here in TN I haven't seen anything like that on stores other than the Dollar General types. Why can't you understand that?

It's a guesstimate based off of anecdotal evidence, just like almost every other post in this thread. Except for the post I made about over 47 million individuals on food stamps.
