Wife drives a 2012 4Runner and I've got 2011 Tundra. We are both at 100K miles and the suggested maintenance is $400. Is it worth it?

If you haven't had issues and you have kept up with regular maintenance, it isn't needed.

It depends on what you get for the $400.
I have a 2009 F150 with 223,000 miles. I change my own oil (full synthetic and high end filter) and I get the major maintenance intervals done. It drives like it only has 75k on it.

My gas and go program just expired at 100k on my raptor. Sucks because i didn't have to pay for any oil changes or scheduled maintenance.

Vehicles need to be maintained, you know this right?

I just paid $800+ for my wife's sedan maintenance at ~100k. A couple of gaskets, some hoses, a coolant expansion tank...things age and if you want the vehicle to be reliable you stay one step ahead.

Most late model vehicles, at 100k, recommend new plugs, replace coolant and a transmission service. Go out and get quotes and compare that to the local dealer prices. You are always better off using OEM quality on major items like transmission services because they use synthetic fluids.

TheAlmightySmash, we both have a hell of a commute. Luckily my fuel checks cover both. Gotcha fella's thanks. We do reg maintinance at the dealership. The 100k inspection consists of all fluid changed, 4 pt inspection, engine flush?, and all filters.

This but in reality you can do the work yourself and spend less than $200 (that's an educated guess). Buy a Haines manual & do it yourself.

I'd probably do it. Granted, my wife's car's maintenance is ~$600 every 40k. And usually runs about $200 every 10k in between. I think at 100k it's like a grand since there's a timing belt that has to be replaced.

...definitely look into getting it tuned up. Spark plugs, filters, water pump, timing belt, etc.

You absolutely need to change the spark plugs, coolant, water pump, and timing belt (If yours does not have a chain).

Do not skimp on maintenance. It is not worth it in the long run. But also do not take it to a dealer. They will rob you.

I agree with this but if you don't already have a mechanic you absolutely trust, take it to the dealer. Nothing worse than a bad mechanic; at least with the dealer you have some recourse.

I would just do oil change, rotate if needed, coolant(drain/fill), and brake flush. Im sure the service for the toyos are like the lexus so spark plugs usually due at 120k. But double check your with your manual.

What is included in their 100k service?

And both vehicle has timing chains so no attention needed at 100k. Unless you have some abnormal wear and it is loose/loud.

You must not drive much. Mine is less than 18 months old and I've got near 70k.

Meh, buy a good vehicle and you don't NEED to follow the book.

I had my 2011 Sonata for 4.5 years. Drove 150,000 miles. Only did regular oil and air filter changes. Spark plugs at 100k. Never touched belts, hoses, transmission, brakes, shocks, etc. Still worked great when I traded it in last month.
