I feel sorry for the Chili’s on Constitution’s waitstaff. Aside from being assaulted by tPOS, imagine the non tipping that goes on there.
It wasn’t always like that. There was a time that servers and mgmt made great money there.
Not a bad “canary in the mine” example for the city of Baton Rouge.

if you don't tip you can expect a chilli response

Had a friend who worked there in the early 2000s and she said that Chili’s location brought more money in than any other in the whole chain.

Its just the software that's loaded onto all of these devices. Hit no tip, or do custom and do $1 if you feel so inclined. The staff won't care.

I'll put it at 1% chance that was true

Not to derail, but I wish more restaurants would have the kiosk at the table and pay whenever you’re ready. Nothing worse than being ready to go but no waiter to be found.
I frequently eat alone because I travel for work a lot. I can tolerate some waiting before and during the meal, but one thing that I can’t stand is too be sitting there after the meal waiting on the check. I have reduced my tip many times because of this.

I’d go with 2% tbh

Cafeterias like Luby’s, Piccadilly, etc. are in a different category in my book. Those waiters/waitresses carry trays for elderly diners all day and I’m sure those folks tip like the Great Depression is still a thing. They earned a tip from me whether they helped me or not.

I really don't like all the "trendy" counter service places that have the tip pop up. "The screen is going to ask you a question" then they flip the screen and the options are. "18.5%, 20% 25%" and I have to fill my own drink and pick my food up at the counter?
I always see a custom tip button.
If I'm doing all the work and there's no custom tip button you are getting nothing.

I’ve not been to a Chili’s in the past 3 years in which half the staff didn’t quit on that shift. These places NEED the zoosk kiosks, otherwise it’s unsustainable to expect them to stay staffed.
Posted on 6/5/22 at 4:53 pm to Tiger1242
In that situation I’d tip 10%. Same as I tip when I pick up food. Normally when I sit down and eat I tip 20% and round up unless the service is awful

You left off the fourth option…NO TIP. If I’m at a place like you described where I have to do everything myself, they don’t get shite. I’ll tip them if they refill my glass at least. But if it’s some set up like a cafeteria, they ain’t getting a tip.

This. This is why I often sit at the bar.
I also love those receipts with a QR code. Easy to pay and go without having to wait for someone to come back with my card.

Lol - I don’t go to Chili’s anymore bc last time I went (like 10 years ago) the server changed my tip to a higher amount

I was on a bike ride this morning and I chuckled out loud at thinking about referencing how you liked living in a shoe.

I probably would have done 12-15% for that level of service. If your drink got low and they didn't come to refill it, I'd maybe reduce it to 10%.
