I hit a deer in my '16 Suburban. Zip tied everything back together, drives fine, but there is bumper/light/sensor damage, and now the a/c has gone hot. Should I make a claim and get it fixed, pay out of pocket, or just trade it in? I think it would be about a $2k fix, but who knows, probably could get to $5k pretty easily too. I just really don't want to make a claim, but i guess what is the point of having the coverage if you are never going to use it. TIA.

$1k deductible with Allstate

Just file the claim. It will be less of a headache.

Wrong sweetheart. Uninsured drivers, your bad credit and insurance score are why it's so high

If it’s a deer you hit them that’s comprehensive. No fault.

Unless you have shitty insurance.

ETA: just realized you’re with Allstate. Yes, you definitely have shitty insurance.

I think you need to sue the State for damages. The State makes citizens buy a license to hunt and kill deer; so they seem to believe that they have some sort of ownership or custodial duty to the deer. As such, IMHO they have taken responsibility of the deer and should be held accountable for any and all damages incurred by the deer.

If you hit the deer out of season or did not have a big game hunting license they may come back on your for killing the deer out of season or without a proper license.

File the claim and let your insurance sort it out.

"Comprehensive coverage on your car insurance policy typically covers deer accidents"

Allstate

"if you swerve to avoid hitting a deer and crash into another object or vehicle, you would need collision coverage to help repair damage to your car"
