Yea, I am heading out to look at it soon. Waiting on him to call me back.

Engine not running is a big sticking point.
Also, it turns over and he just got it a year ago but the person who had it before him said it was running before he parked it for a few years. About 3 years or so since it last ran.

Doesn't everyone say this? Do it anyway.

Great. I hope the deal works out for you.
Also, look closely at the wiring. Not unusual for a vehicle that old to see harnesses hacked, spliced, burnt and brittle.

That helps, but likely will be some precise welding.
Check the rockers close, and the cowl area.
Hard to know mechanically if it's not running...

You said motor doesn't work. Does it at least turn over and if so, can you check compression on the cylinders to give you some guideline as to what may be wrong???
Have you crawled under it to check out how the floorboards look from underneath, how many oil leaks are showing from the engine, transmission, rear end, etc.
It's a cool car, but you can easily find yourself upside down when getting into restoration of such vehicles. Then there's parts availability if something is needed that is hard to find.
Do you have a garage big enough to keep it in when working on it. since it's a rag top

You need to get it on a lift and check the frame and body.

Hell yes!!!
Mount a grande steer horn on the hood right after you gloss up that cherry red paint and it won’t matter if the seats are uncomfortable. Pack the glove box with condoms because you will need them.

Blacked out with chrome accents are the only way

Really depends on your ability to be patient through the process and how much you will love the car, My dad had an odd dream car, Nash Metropolitian, and always regretted the chance he passed to buy one.

Stout, after looking at the pics on my desktop and getting a better view, make sure this car wasn’t under water at sometime in its life.

Of course, that's the Entourage car. Do you have three friends?

There's your answer

Depends on your financial situation. Whenever you buy something "undervalued." there's a reason. If you good with not getting your money back on the $10k and that wan't hurt you much financially, goo for it.

Go get it. You will regret it if you do not. As you said, you can always get your money back and it sounds like you could make a few dollars on it even if you do nothing.

In that shape I’d think 10k is a steal just depends on why it’s not running.
Is the engine shot or does it just need plugs, wires, new vacuum hoses and a carb rebuild. Usually that’s all these old cars need to run good but if the engine is blown that’s gonna increase your cost to get it going

crazy prices
My personal crusade is to reduce the number of times people use the word ‘crazy’.
So, in that spirit, what should they have cost? Is it ‘crazy’ that something in demand should cost more? Are their other adjectives that could have worked better in that sentence?
