I mean, the average life expectancy for men in the US is 76... Do you know which number is in the middle of that?

General Consensus: 40-64 is middle aged

That may not be representative for you. Remember that the "average" includes fentanyl users, the suicidally depressed, heavy smokers, and drunk drivers.

Assuming you don't fit those, you have access to decent healthcare, and you at least try to take care of yourself a little, you will probably beat that number by 6-9 years.

I turn 40 in a few months. Clearly, middle age starts at 45, perhaps even 50. Right….. right?

I've decided it started at 50, which means I'll live to be 100+. So yeah, go with 50.

The “middle aged” clock starts with adulthood, not birth. That’s why 50 is usually “midlife crisis” age.

43 at the very latest. you'll start feeling it at 40 or 41 but by 43 you will have an epiphany.

When you are 18, absolutely, when you are 38 or older NO.

I made the argument a few years ago that middle age should be based off time as an adult. So in this case 76-18=85 58/2=29 18+29=47 Thus 47 is middle age. I need to come up with a new equation to legitimize middle age starting at 60.

Hard to say when 30 year olds these days are still single, living with their parents, and playing with Pokémon cards for fun. You need at least 20 years of actual adult life before you've earned a midlife crisis.

I've never once heard of someone in their 60s called middle aged

this right cheah.

i was cruising along at 42 convinced that i was immune to middle age, then i turned 43. took most of 43 and 44 to realize it, and now i'm still trying to come to grips with it.

I’m on the backside of 30. The short side of time. Back on the bottom with no hill to climb.

My mom's dad, her dad, and his dad - my dad, his dad and his dad - all died before the age of 53

I'm 35 with a 3 year old so I just take life one day at a time

I'm older than that but in my mind, I'm still mid 20's.
