Well think about consciousness and what you remember. To me, my life began around age 5. Thats about as far back as my memories go. So middle age for me, assuming 76 is the average life expectancy, would actually be 76-5= 71 conscious years...divided by 2 = 35.5 + 5 = 40.5

So actually 40.5 years is my middle age

Great grandma lived to like 105, so I’m pretty sure I’m getting close to middle age at this point (52).

Need to let Mrs. FCP know I’m ready to buy a convertible.

I have always figured it was about 30-60 with under 30 being young and 60-90 being old or dead.....

I’m on the backside of 30. The short side of time. Back on the bottom with no hill to climb.

Just how much country do you listen to?

Eta: hand to heart, just looked it up, its actually a lyric. I don't listen to much beyond patsy cline and yoakam.

I turned 50 last week and I certainly don't feel middle aged

Because you are passed it unless you’re living to 100. You are into the fourth quarter.

I mean, the average life expectancy for men in the US is 76... Do you know which number is in the middle of that?

General Consensus: 40-64 is middle aged

Life expectancy grows the longer you manage to survive. I have gained almost 16 years in my 61 years somehow....most of that is due to advancement in health care but it is also somehow a function of having lived x number of years....I don't know what the calculus is but I like my chances better now than I did in 1965!

43 at the very latest. you'll start feeling it at 40 or 41 but by 43 you will have an epiphany.

I was 50 when I started really noticing it but even at 50 I realized I had been ignoring a lot of shite.

It’s John Conlee song from the early 80s.
It’s a dig to the fact I’m well beyond my late 30s haha

Middle age begins at 35 and ends at 40. At 41 you are post middle-aged. Cf. Psalm 90:10.

Middle age hits when your precious little daughter turns 13 and no longer laughs and plays with you but instead stays in her room and blames you for everything

This is correct, middle age is middle of adulthood. So if 38 is middle age, we die at 58.

Just wait until after a lifetime of perfectly good vision, at around age 45 or 46 and you have to go buy cheaters to read anything up close.

I don’t think of middle aged as the actual middle of life expectancy.

I think of it as a phase in life, during the period where your kids are grown but you are not yet retired.

So, perhaps 50-65 or 45-60, somewhere in that range.
