I live in Abita, so yeah I get to Covington from time to time and the numbers don't lie. Covington is more violent than Slidell.

Your link shows Slidell is a 12 and covington is a 24 where 100 is safest. You keep using one bullshite site. This is your shtick because you are stuck in Slidell.

The neighborhood in question, the West 30s, is Covington's historically Black and impoverished neighborhood. For many years the bad actors were allowed to their own devices.
Two years ago the Covington City Council enacted a significant pay increase for PD. This led to a doubling of the force. Approximately one year ago they began pro-actively policing the area (previous poster mentioned patrol car at I-Stop/ Mikes). In that time they have removed over 50 guns from the streets (some quite bad), almost 500 grams of heroin / fentanyl and made over 100 felony arrests. Most of those arrested sleep tonight on Champagne Street (Parish Jail).
The third generation bad guys got the hint and moved to other parishes … which has caused significant problems in Bogalusa, but that's another story.
The residents of the area are ecstatic about the thugs being pushed out. Many good, hard working folks were terrorized for years.
A non-profit, West 30s Redemption Co., has set up a program to build new safe, affordable homes. This allows the renter to buy a decent home for less than they were renting … and pass equity down to the next generation. By year's end they will have helped over 50 families … in 5 years.
City has also not only cleaned up the road shoulders and ditches, but residents are now assuming responsibility for the area in front of their homes.
This past Thursday night Rockn' Dopsie played Peter Atkins Park (the neighborhood park) to a great crowd of Whites and Blacks. Nary a problem.
The problem today comes from outside of St. Tammany Parish. For decades you could pop in from Baton Rouge, Tangi, or Washington Parish, make a few drug or gun deals, and go about your way. Now, they too, are getting busted.
Sidenote: Couple of weeks ago PD pulled over person of interest from Slidell. He hops out of the car and says, "you can search me and you can search my car. I've heard about you and I'm clean."
The West 30s is not the West 30s of yesteryear.
And it's amazing what can happen when you "Fund the Police."

No need to get so emotional over it. Look, I posted the numbers. It's all there. You stand a greater chance of being victimized by a violent crime in Covington than slidell.
Covington's kinda dirty in that way.

Look at the links again. Those numbers include all crime. In terms of violent crime alone, Covington is significantly worse than Slidell.
No one's "stuck" in Slidell and the numbers aren't a "schtick". You're taking this personal.
Slidell is almost 3 times te size of Covington. It will have a greater overall crime rate but when it comes to violence, Covington's a seedy little place and significantly outpaces Slidell.
Look, I get the Slidell stereotype but Covington fits it a little better. What Slidell lacks is Covington's facade.

How many pedestrians holding a Rouses bag, sporting the white tank top/ jean shorts and flip flop ensemble does the Dell mandate for each interstate exit?

Well when I drive through there, it's alot but they have put out don't feed the animals signs at the intersections, so I think it's getting better.

Certain ones will let you feed them. Usually a little more adapted to sunlight.

The crime “rate” should not be confused with crime number in the aggregate but
It’s a discussion that’s really pointless. As you pointed out, Slidell is much larger than Covington.
And when it comes to which is better, it’s irrelevant imo. Covington is a great small town. It’s charming. Heck, maybe one of the most charming towns in the state. There is a very small chance of being confronted with violent crime in Covington.
Slidell is a much larger town and lacks the charm. It’s got areas that are very nice though. The old town has charm.
I like Slidell for its outdoor offerings though. It’s a paradise for fishing and hunting. I can be speck and or red fishing in 15 minutes. I can be back, fish cleaned and ready for the lsu game next weekend even at 11:30 kickoff. I can be in bay St. Louis in 35 minutes avoiding the interstate. I can take my boat and be there in under 2 hours going slow. I enjoy that.
But that’s why I love it.
People see what they want to see though.
The New Orleans situation is the real problem. I now know over 3 people directly impacted by violent crime. I know several who got things stolen from them in the last few weeks.
People pay tax there and it disappears down a rat hole. Nothing gets done.

Greatlakestiger showed you numbers where it is clear that Slidell has more violent crime. You ignored it.
